I started a new thread here since I didn’t want to hijack one started by another member.

Our family currently owns two SUVs (ML and RX) in addition to a CT200h hybrid. Since we want a larger, 7-8 passenger SUV that could tow as well as transport the family, we sold the Lexus RX.

I’m aware that a good number of the people here own MDXs, and at the moment we’ve effectively settled on three SUVs:

I’ve driven all three SUVs, but I have to admit that I prefer the QX56 the most. Its V8 engine produces 400 horsepower, and its third row can actually accommodate three passengers. However, my wife wants an SUV with a smaller overall footprint and considers the GL and QX to be too large.

What do you think about the SUVs mentioned above? Cost isn’t much of an issue because they will all cost around the low to upper 40s on average. I prefer my sport cars to be low, but I prefer large, intimidating trucks. The MDX just doesn’t appeal to me, and I believe it is too close to our recently sold ML350 and RX. I had believed the MDX’s MPG may be its strongest suit, but it turns out that it isn’t all that much better than the QX56, and at least the Infiniti has a 400hp V8.

Because I have other vehicles, I will occasionally use the SUV for weekend or family car transit, hauling, excursions to Tahoe, etc.

Do you guys have anything in your garage that the QX56 might compete with? Compared to Lexus, how trustworthy is the name Infiniti?
