For the rest of the year, Hyundai wants millennials and other secondary audiences to “question everything.” Hyundai is investing “Super Bowl-level” funds on the launch of its newly remodeled Tucson brand, which the company calls its biggest and most significant launch in history. The Tucson is hoped to be able to outperform its rivals in the cutthroat compact SUV market. For Hyundai, this is “not a fresh chapter, but a complete new book,” according to marketing director Angela Zepada.
With a star-studded, Super Bowl-style campaign intended to propel Tucson onto the podium, with Nissan Rouge and Toyota RAV4, in the compact SUV sector, Hyundai is rushing into the spring auto market.
The 2022 Hyundai Tucson will receive unprecedented ad backing for a year-long campaign in what the company is calling a “full-funnel attack.” Despite Hyundai Motor America’s chief marketer Angela Zepeda refusing to disclose the amount spent, she described the campaign as “most significant and significant launch in Hyundai’s history. Hyundai is positioning its brand for the future with the newly designed Tucson.”
The well-known automaker is counting on millennials to drive the movement. The “sweet spot” for the brand has been defined as an audience of “creative connectors.” According to Zepeda, it’s for millennials, possibly those who are getting married and beginning families, but it’s also a terrific vehicle for single people or even urban couples. “More than anything, we try to change our thinking. They are only a perceptive target who is deeply engaged in everything around them. They have a hopeful outlook and are acutely aware of their surroundings and the environment they live in.”
Hyundai has started its “question everything” marketing campaign with this objective in mind. Six celebrities, including Jason Bateman, Mindy Kaling, Becky G, Kawhi Leonard, Giada De Laurentiis, and Nate Berkus, are featured in the soon-to-be well-known advertisement “asking life’s most difficult questions.”
We all ask ourselves, “Why can you drive on a parkway?” according to Steven Wright, says Barney Goldberg, executive creative director of Innocean USA, the company that handled the project. “The advertising was supposed to be humorous and accessible. It’s a little disconcerting to witness famous people asking these questions while going about their daily lives. We then bring it into the realm of Hyundai, where we also received inquiries regarding our own vehicles. It ultimately comes down to two questions: “How big can we make an infotainment screen, and can we call it an infotainment screen?” and “how do we build headlights so that you don’t see them until you need to see them?” Indeed, we can.”

Famous Hollywood productions including “The Lost Boys” and, more recently, “Bumblebee” and “Us” have been filmed here. Not to mention the 70,000 or so diverse individuals—musicians, artists, IT entrepreneurs, and regular people—that make up the community.
Stacy Peralta, a skating superstar and documentary filmmaker, directed a car commercial for the Hyundai Santa Cruz on Wednesday, giving our city yet another symbol for the world to identify.
He describes Santa Cruz as one of those incredibly distinctive California coastal communities. “Because this city possesses everything the great cities have, it is quite uncommon. It contains a massive cultural fusion in a little space.”
Hyundai’s Santa Cruz, a Sports Adventure Vehicle (imagine an SUV with a small truck bed attached), which was first unveiled in 2015, will begin to leave the factory this summer. The business recruited Peralta and his team to take pictures of Santa Cruz’s most famous sites and cultural connections as a way to announce its presence. For the primary scenes, the crew shot on location at Sergeant Derby Park, one of the world’s oldest skate parks, artist studios, and Henry Cowell forest.
Peralta claims, “We’re telling three separate storylines. One of them is about a professional surfer, one is about an accomplished artist (Jimbo Phillips), and the third one is about the skateboarders known as the Lady Lurkers.
The amount of Black Lives Matter support in this town, he continues, “also blows my mind.” I’m astounded.
Of course, a visit to Santa Cruz wouldn’t be complete without stopping at a few more of its well-known attractions. Streetlight Records, where the crew spent many hours filming, Pleasure Point, the Pacific Coast Highway, and the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk will also be included.
According to Peralta, “a bitchin’ record store is always the hallmark of a wonderful place.” “Because a town that doesn’t comprehend it cannot support a store like this. Towns have color because of these kinds of locations.”
Peralta, 63, gained fame as a member of the famed Z-Boys, a skateboarding team located in Venice, California, in the 1970s, and supported by Jeff Ho Surfboards and Zephyr Productions. By the time he was 19 years old, he was the top-ranked professional skater in the nation. He then started his own crew, the Bones Brigade, whose members permanently changed the sport thanks to the group’s iconic skeleton emblem.
The documentary “Dogtown and Z-Boys,” about the Venice gang and the beginnings of contemporary skate culture, was written and directed by him in 2001. In 2005, the biopic “Lords of Dogtown,” which Peralta also authored, gave it the Hollywood treatment.
He predicts that the advertisement will probably air in a few months, giving Santa Cruz’s cinematic and cultural resume even another feather in it.
“This place has an extremely strong cultural foundation,” he claims. “There is a strong emphasis on performance here. Everyone strives to be the best, whether they are musicians, artists, mountain bikers, hikers, skateboarders, or surfers. Thus, [Santa Cruz] is fantastic.”
