Who Owns Arapahoe Hyundai?

Arapahoe Hyundai & Genesis of Arapahoe in Centennial, Colorado, is acquired by Asbury Automotive Group.

Asbury opens a new dealership in Colorado.

Asbury Automotive Group is continuing to expand its dealership portfolio in the Rocky Mountains, though not nearly to the same extent as the audacious purchase of the Larry H. Miller Dealerships and Total Care Auto.

Asbury expanded its presence in Colorado by buying Arapahoe Hyundai and Genesis of Arapahoe in Centennial, Colorado, from the Zinsmeister family, according to a news release from Performance Brokerage Services, which assisted in brokering the deal.

The announcement said that Arapahoe Hyundai has been providing services to its neighborhood for almost 20 years and has been Colorado’s top Hyundai volume dealer for 14 years running.

The Zinsmeister family, which consists of a father and son better known to their clients as “Z” and “Big Z,” has been the dealership’s only owner and operator.

The dealership will continue to operate out of its current Centennial location at 9899 East Arapahoe Road.

Randy Callison, vice president of corporate development at Asbury, spoke with Jonny Mecham, one of the Rocky Mountain partners for Performance Brokerage Services and the exclusive agent for this transaction, after going through the Larry H. Miller acquisition, to explain the procedure.

In the press release, Callison stated, “We have known Jason Stopnitzky of Performance Brokerage Services for a very long time, and they have always been a valued resource for us. “They have a ton of experience and really grasp the intricacies of the industry. Working with Jonny and his father, John Mecham, for the first time, they both had the same level of skill. They did an excellent job of getting the two parties together and resolving the concerns.

“I believe that ‘Z’ and Jonny’s combined teamwork made the move one of the smoothest ones I’ve ever had the pleasure to be a part of. I have no hesitation in recommending Jonny and John Mecham and Performance Brokerage Services, and I eagerly anticipate collaborating with them once more in the future,” Callison continued.

“During one of their travels to Denver, Jonny and John Mecham of Performance Brokerage Services introduced themselves to my wife and I over lunch. We immediately sensed that they genuinely wanted our family to succeed and had our best interests at heart, according to Zinsmeister.

“Big Z, my father, was planning to retire, and I hoped to spend my last days with my growing family. When a former dealer calls to share their first experience of “being where they are” and being present in their life outside of work after selling their business, John said he loves that moment. I could immediately relate to this, Zinsmeister continued.

“Jonny then took the helm, guiding us to the finish line with a deal even better than we had hoped for, while also forging what will turn out to be a wonderful friendship along the way. I was determined to take on the task of keeping up with Asbury’s team of quick and effective representatives when they arrived. Without Jonny and John and Performance Brokerage Services, the Asbury/Arapahoe Hyundai agreement would not have taken place, Zinsmeister continued.
