The NACTOY awards, now in their 28th year, are chosen by a varied panel of automotive writers from a variety of venues in the United States and Canada in a series of three separate votes. Based on segment leadership, innovation, design, safety, handling, driver happiness, and value, the jury rates the finalists.
They are the oldest new-car awards that are not connected to any particular magazine, website, radio station, or television network. These awards are among the most prestigious in the sector due to the independence of the jurors.
