It’s the redesigned Hyundai Kona, unquestionably the craziest-looking Hyundai the world has ever seen, even in a world where the gorgeous Ioniq 5 is now a reality. Hyundai would refer to the Kona as a sub-compact SUV, while the rest of us just refer to these vehicles as crossovers. It faces opposition from the Nissan Juke, Renault Captur, Kia Niro, and products from nearly all other automakers in the world.
But none we’ve seen is as daring as the Kona, even in this fashion-focused market. But after a redesign, even the standard Kona is “electrified.” Only a petrol-powered 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine with a six-speed manual transmission and a 48V mild hybrid system is currently available in the UK. Hyundai gives a ton of basic safety equipment and a ton of good in-car technology, especially on the higher-spec vehicles, regardless of which Kona you choose.
