The majority of luxury vehicles are designed to deliver a serene and comfortable ride with a few useful modest creature comforts. It might be enough to add some heated seats, possibly a cooled seat, and a screen with Apple Carplay/Android Auto. Nearly every Hyundai comes with practically all of these features while undercutting its rivals—and no, those rivals are not luxury automobiles.
No, Hyundai doesn’t normally use a rear-wheel-drive platform or double-wishbone suspension systems, so it won’t have the same handling qualities. However, almost all Genesis products do. I won’t list vehicles like the Genesis G80 or G90 because they are simply too advanced.
The status of a luxury-branded car is the main feature that a Hyundai lacks. Hyundais won’t stoke the egos of the majority of people or make individuals feel superior to others. When the general public lusts after those expensive branded goods, these are the things people desire. Since most people cannot even use such mechanical marvels on public roads, the architecture and suspension are meaningless. For commuting around town, a Hyundai is more than adequate, especially with all of its amenities.
Thus, the question of what constitutes actual luxury arises. Is it status brought on by a badge or a good ride? Perhaps using high-end materials or packing a lot of features onto an automobile is the cause.
