This is the second time while I’ve been driving, my cruise control has disengaged. I was just entering wet rain and snow and had it set to Smart. It also turned off my radar function. I tried slowing down and switching to ECO to see if it would reset, but it didn’t. My two sons accuse me of being a button pusher, but I am not.
Manuals irritate me. They are enormous, so how does anyone find what they are looking for? I simply need to get it reset because I have a three-hour commute home and am the sole driver and disabled. Long drives are quite exhausting on the legs.
Has anyone discovered the cause of the disabled cruise control and radar features? I’m not satisfied with this right now and will complain to the dealership when I get home. Any assistance is helpful.
You can activate “dumb” “manual” cruise control if the weather is bad enough to prevent “smart” adaptive cruise control from working. My Santa Fe owner’s manual states that holding down the vehicle-to-vehicle distance button for two seconds while Cruise Control is activated will activate “conventional” cruise control. Of course, you should consider the road conditions when deciding whether to utilize cruise control at all if they are terrible enough to disable Smart Cruise Control (because that is the correct name). I do this occasionally since Smart Cruise Control will turn off in simple road splatter, not always in “poor” situations.

Just ignore it; I worked it out. To disengage the Smart Cruise Control, you must first turn on Cruise Control and then push and hold the Vehicle-to-Vehicle Distance button. I tried to switch off the Smart Cruise Control after turning on the cruise control and setting my speed. Therefore, you must wait to set your speed until the Smart Cruise Control has been disabled. In doing so, I had my wife roll her eyes and answered my own question.
Note: Disabling Smart Cruise Control also disables Highway Drive Assist (HDA).
Now that the cruise control is engaged, you can ease off the accelerator.

I’m not sure if regular CC isn’t available or if I’m missing something. As far as I can see, there is nothing in the instructions about turning the Cruise Control’s Smart mode off.
