Except for the fact that it was an outlier, I have no idea how what you’ve described happened. I was dismayed to see that the Palisade, like the Sonata and Palisade previously mentioned, did not have a dedicated button to switch LFA on or off without requiring cruise control to be adjusted or even turned on at all. Thank goodness my wife operates the Palisade. I adore that my Sonata has this potential. I don’t know how or why Hyundai made the decision to remove the option from the Palisade with a dedicated button, but I find myself missing it whenever I drive the Palisade—except when I’m going down the highway with cruise control engaged.
However, according to the manual, going to standard cruise mode makes it simple to turn it off. You can switch from smart to conventional mode by simply holding down the vehicle-to-vehicle distance button for longer than 2 seconds. You must be in Smart Cruise mode in order to use LFA, thus if you switch to conventional by using the way described above, you will effectively disable it.
Yes, there isn’t a separate LFA button to turn on or off, but from what I hear, doing so is still quite simple.

How does Active Lane Keep Assist work?
When a driver inadvertently drifts out of their lane, Active Lane Keeping Assist can alert them and utilize one-sided brake intervention (via ESP) to guide the car back into its lane.
A tiny camera mounted on the top of the windscreen of your Mercedes-Benz monitors the area in front of the vehicle as part of Active Lane Keeping Assist. Then, radar sensors distributed throughout the vehicle are in charge of keeping an eye on the traffic in and around it.
The camera scans the area in front of the automobile and determines the location of the vehicle in respect to the lane markers on the road using differences in contrast.
