I’ve never used a key fob in place of a traditional car key before, so I’m a little intimidated by it. I believe the battery is running low, but I’m not sure how to check. How can I open a Hyundai Genesis key fob, please?
In less than two minutes, find out if your auto insurance is being overcharged.
A Hyundai Genesis key fob must be opened by releasing the metal key. You can do this by drawing out the metal key and depressing the silver button on the top corner of your key fob.
You will see two slots on your key fob once you have taken the metal key out: a larger one that holds the metal key and a smaller one on top of it. Insert the metal key’s tip into the smaller of the two slots, then turn. The back of the Hyundai Genesis key fob should easily detach with a little pressure.
Despite the fact that your key fob is fairly robust and durable, use caution when trying to open it. Use a little flat-head screwdriver in place of the metal key if you’re having difficulties getting it open.
After you’ve tested the battery in your key fob, spend 45 seconds determining whether or not your car insurance is too expensive.

How to change the “Rectangular” smart key fob battery in a Hyundai Genesis Sedan (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014)
To remove the internal key, first press and hold the button on the front of the key fob. You may see a slot beneath the keyhole after removing your key. Put a flat-head screwdriver into the slot, twist it, and then insert it. The key fob’s two halves will separate.
Use your thin instrument, such as a precise screwdriver, to pry the battery out. The battery will pop out if you approach it from the right side, push all the way to the bottom, and then gently pull the tool back. A fresh CR2032 battery should be inserted face-down. Once it clicks into place, push it down.
The internal key should then be reinserted before you push the key fob’s two parts back together. Pushing a button should activate the light on the front of the key if the battery is charged.

I sort of figured it out on my own because I couldn’t find any instructions on how to accomplish it. I was concerned that the key was more intelligent than I was, but after fiddling with it for a bit, I discovered how it worked. The battery in the fob I often use was depleting after three and a half years of owning my car. Don’t pay the dealer to do something you can do yourself with some patience and a flathead screwdriver.
Resources required:
1. Press the silver button on the fob to remove the key.
2. Insert the screwdriver’s blade into the small hole next to the key slot.
Gently press the opposing sides of the fob with the head in the hole pivoting (teehee). At this point, the fob will start to pop off to that side.
3. Gently pivot the head of the fob once more by inserting the tip of the screwdriver into the side that broke off. Once it pops a second time, the opposing side should start to split.
4. Set the fob button-side down before completely separating the two sides. If you don’t want to chase little pieces about your kitchen, this is crucial. DON’T PANIC if the fob separates and the tiny bits fall out! I’ll describe how they enter again.
5. The fob should be completely removable using only your hands. If not, move the screwdriver’s blade along the edges until you feel the two sides start to separate.
6. The “back / logo” portion of the keychain contains the battery. A little spring clip in the shape of a circle holds it in place. Pry the battery out with your flathead screwdriver.
7. The battery tray is inserted with the + Positive side facing down. Slide it down and in by pressing the edge against the spring clasp. It should seat comfortably and without considerable pressure. Just be careful not to overdo it on that tiny spring. It appears to have been produced in some way in Korea.
8. Here’s how to put the key release assembly back together if, like it did to me, it separated. On the front/button side of the fob, the metal button is inserted into a hole. On a little post that protrudes from the back of it is a tiny spring. The spring is atop the white plastic component. On the white piece, there is a cutout or hole for the spring to rest in. Set the white piece in place so that the tail faces the top of the fob. Everything just sort of “sits” together, so you have to balance it to keep it in place.
9. To reassemble, carefully align the front and back halves, press them together, and check that the key release button assembly is in the proper position.
10. Check the functioning of the proximity key. The buttons must function for you to proceed. Once you understand how the key release assembly is put together, the technique is not difficult and is not very frightening.

- Between the release button and the key slot, insert the key.
- Turn the key until the fob pops open as if you were unlocking a door.

- Remove the barrier and motherboard, then set aside the button-side of the fob.
- Remove the dead battery from its mount using the key.
- Place the + side of the new battery in its bracket.
- Replace the fob’s button-half, motherboard, and barrier.
- Set the release button peg in the appropriate hole.

How long will a key fob with low batteries operate?
Here is the amount of time you have if your keyless remote battery is low if you’re wondering how long you have. Whether a key fob has a low battery depends on whether it is a smart key fob or a conventional fob. A normal key fob with a low battery can last up to 4 to 6 years, whereas a smart key fob with a low battery can last for up to 2 to 3 years.
Since nothing lasts forever, it makes sense to be aware of the time limit set for each equipment you have in your possession. Your car and each of its parts are built to last for a certain amount of time.
How you use and maintain those components will influence whether they last as long as they should. The key fob for your car is not an exception. If you’re wondering how long it will take to replace the battery in a Honda keyless remote, read on. The time range described above may be possible in some circumstances, but it may not always happen as intended.
