One in every four KONA models sold in Europe is a Hyundai KONA Electric, demonstrating the KONA Electric’s increasing popularity there. The KONA Hybrid, KONA Electric, and the two internal-combustion variants, KONA and KONA N, make up the other three KONA variations. Since its introduction in 2018, more than 142,000 KONA Electrics have been sold worldwide, including more than 100,000 units in Europe.
Since its 2018 premiere, KONA Electric has become incredibly popular in Europe, far beyond all predictions. The Kona Electric Company
The Kona is available in an electric form called the Kona Electric. After the Ioniq, it is Hyundai’s second electric vehicle. Sales began in Europe and Korea in 2018, and the US market debuted in 2019.
There are two battery sizes for Kona Electric: 64 kWh and 39.2 kWh. The updated Hyundai Kona Electric was introduced in Malaysia in November 2021. Two battery packs—39.2 kWh and 64 kWh—are available in three variations, with battery ranges ranging from 303 km in the smaller pack to 484 km in the bigger pack.

Hyundai Kona compact SUV sales increased to 1.4 thousand electric and 2.1 thousand hybrid electric models in South Korea in 2021. Sales of the pure electric version started in May 2018, and exports had started three months earlier. In August 2019, the hybrid version saw its first sales. Additionally, the Kona can be purchased with a diesel or gasoline engine.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 reported a new high of 9,539 wholesale sales in December. With over 65,000 units sold, this new model swiftly rose to the top position among the electric models in the list.

VFACTS March 2022: Best sales month for Hyundai Kona Electric
With the popularity of electric vehicles rapidly increasing, the Hyundai Kona Electric small SUV has experienced its highest sales month since it first went on sale in Australia three years ago (albeit from a low base).
The number of 133 Kona Electrics sold in March 2022 surpasses the previous record set in January and (slightly) more than twice the SUV manufacturer Hyundai’s tiny electric SUV’s greatest sales month from the previous year (66 cars in May 2021).
While the 133 Electric variants only made up about 10% of all Hyundai Kona sales in the previous month, they have helped to sell 304 Kona Electrics so far in 2022, which is 60% more than the 505 sales that were reported in 2021 but in a quarter of the time.
The 304 reported sales this year show an increase of 442% over the first three months of 2021, however these months were hampered by supply issues because a facelifted model wasn’t expected to be available until April. In the last three months of 2021, 150 automobiles were sold.
According to a company spokeswoman, Hyundai claims that the record Kona Electric sales result is the result of a mix of improving supply and high demand, which is thought to be fueled by high gasoline prices.
According to the Federal Chambers of Automotive Industries (FCAI), a total of 6752 electric cars have been registered as having been sold so far in 2022. This number includes market leader Tesla for the first time because it first submitted data to the FCAI’s VFACTS report last month.
Excluding Tesla, there were 2335 reported sales of electric vehicles this year, up 141% from the same period in 2021. (also excluding Tesla sales).
With 4417 cars recorded as sold so far this year, the Tesla Model 3 has continued to top the electric vehicle sales statistics after setting records in 2021. This puts it ahead of the Mercedes-Benz EQA in second place (318 sales) and the Hyundai Kona Electric in third place (304).
With 206 and 133 sales, respectively, Hyundai’s two electric vehicles, the Ioniq Electric hatchback and specialized Ioniq 5 midsize SUV, are in fourth and eighth place.
In what numbers are Hyundai Kona sold in Canada?
There is excellent news for those who have been eager to own the well-liked Hyundai Kona in its electric form. Since the model’s introduction, the Korean carmaker has boosted the quantity of vehicles transported to Canada; as a result, there is currently no waiting list to purchase one.
For the first time, dealerships will be able to keep units of the Kona Electric in stock, and purchasers won’t have to wait much more than a few weeks or months to get the car they desire. Since the model initially appeared on the market, distribution has steadily increased. In spite of the pandemic, Hyundai exported 7,900 units to Canadian customers in 2018, compared to 2,600 units in Canada in 2019.

Every year, we have expanded our supply, but we still haven’t been able to meet demand.”
As soon as the company started assembling the model in the Czech Republic for the European market, the Kona Electrics shortage started to be rectified. Hyundai’s Korean production was solely focused on supplying the North American market from that point forward.

The Kona N completed the quarter mile at 101.1 mph in 13.9 seconds and went from 0 to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds. It accomplishes this using the same 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four with 276 horsepower and 289 lb-ft of torque that powers the 2022 Elantra N. Although the sedan offers a standard six-speed manual transmission, there is no such option available for the Kona N.
