Our Analysis of Genesis US Sales Data
Despite being a newcomer to the market, Genesis has had success in the US despite being produced in South Korea. Around 7,000 vehicles were sold in 2016, which is thought to be a decent start for Genesis, especially when you consider the number of other prominent luxury manufacturers operating in the US.
Genesis stepped up its luxury vehicle marketing and advertising operations by 2017. They were able to sell 20,612 cars as a result. With sales down by nearly 50% from 2017, things became worse for the business in 2018. A record-breaking year for the firm so far, Genesis recovered and sold over 21,000 vehicles in 2019.
The future is looking bright for the new luxury brand. A sports coupe and two crossovers would be added by 2022, increasing the total number of Genesis vehicles to six, according to the announcement.

Hyundai reported record-breaking retail sales in the United States in 2021, and deliveries of the luxury brand Genesis more than tripled from 2020 to 2021.
Last year, Hyundai Motor America achieved new sales milestones with the Genesis premium brand seeing more than three times as many deliveries as before and the Hyundai brand setting a new retail sales record.
Due to low inventory levels, Hyundai struggled in the fourth quarter, with sales dropping 15% to 152,446. Deliveries increased 19% for the year to 738,081, the third-best performance for the company. In 2021, retail sales increased by 23% to an all-time high of 694,349, according to Hyundai.
With sales of 15,301, Genesis, which introduced its first two crossovers in the previous 14 months, had a growth of 200 percent. Genesis’ volume for the year more than tripled to 49,621.
Hyundai reported U.S. sales of 51,340 in December, a 23 percent decline, while Genesis shipped 4,999 vehicles, a 61 percent increase.

Due to the growing popularity of its brand power, major South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor Co. announced on Sunday that cumulative global sales for its independent Genesis brand had topped 700,000 units.
According to data from Hyundai Motor’s investor relations, the premium brand sold 700,612 units worldwide between the time of its launch in November 2015 and the end of February 2022, with 30.5 percent of those sales occurring abroad.
The rapid rise in popularity of recreational vehicles and the increase in sales in North America have both contributed to a 100,000 unit increase in Genesis’ global sales over the last three months.
The popularity of the GV70 and GV80 SUVs has increased globally, according to Hyundai, particularly at home and in the US.
Market watchers predicted that if Genesis’ sales continue at their current rate, they will certainly surpass the 1 million mark by 2022.
Hyundai Motor stated in January that it planned to sell 220,000 Genesis vehicles globally in 2022, a 10% increase over the 200,000 units that were sold the previous year.

Korean Genesis
Hyundai produces and sells the Hyundai Genesis, a full-size luxury sedan with executive four doors, five passenger seats, and either rear- or all-wheel drive. Hyundai expects sales of Genesis to increase by 10% in 2022.
According to the business this week, Hyundai Motor’s luxury brand Genesis is aiming for a 10% rise in global sales in 2022, supported by the introduction of new models.

In order to compete in the highly competitive global luxury car market, Genesis first unveiled the EQ900(G90) in November 2015.
