Who is Honda of Fort Myers’ owner?
South Fort Myers’ car row will be revitalized. The reason for this is that Sonic Automotive just paid $7.6 million for 8.6 acres, which included five buildings, located off of U.S. 41 between the Mini Cooper and Volkswagen stores.
It is located across the street from the 14020 S. Tamiami Trail Sutherlin Nissan dealership in Fort Myers.
The sellers, Capital Automotive Group, were represented by John Mounce, a broker with LandQwest. Sonic was represented by CBRE Tampa’s David Conn.
One of the biggest car dealers in the nation, Sonic, intends to renovate the location. According to Mounce, some of the structures will be repaired while others will be demolished. And the Echo Park brand will be utilized to sell the used vehicles. Sonic was not reachable to get a comment on the details.
Along with the land it just bought, Sonic also owns the Mini Cooper and Volkswagen stores, but those places are leased.
This agreement closes a brief saga for the property, which in the end of 2019 attracted numerous interested parties. At that time, Morgan Automotive Group acquired Honda of Fort Myers, and Honda was relocated from Tamiami Trail to the brand-new facility at 3550 Colonial Boulevard.
Before Covid, Mounce stated that selling that former Honda location was a “slam dunk.”
Two sizable restaurant companies were competing for a location. A sizable furniture retailer expressed interest in joining us. We have a sizable fitness facility.
The COVID-19 event shattered such preparations. In order to find a new suitor, Mounce and his LandQwest team had to reorganize. So, Mounce replied, “We feel quite comfortable about ourselves.
Mounce claimed that there was yet another potential use for the former Honda facility. Whole Foods Market has given it some thought. Instead, that landed on a former golf driving range off Daniels Parkway.
I spoke with our customer, the McLean, Virginia-based Capital Automotive Group, Mounce said. In the process, it was too early. We became involved in this way before the land was even available. We simply kept up our communication with them. The auto dealer then returned.

Elattrache is very careful to keep in mind and implement the idea of creating a team rather than a collection of employees. He doesn’t want his almost 200-strong crew to become nameless cogs in the machine because everyone on the Huggins team believes that success for one is success for all.
Elattrache stated, “I owe the credit to managers we have in place. “We want to employ individuals that not only genuinely care about but also invest in our staff. We establish a rapport with our employees. Because we spend so much time with children, we start to value the things that are significant to them. We are aware that cooperation is the only way to accomplish the goals we have for the store. Recently, I saw an article that stated, “Leadership is a total sum of all the different departments,” and I think that’s a statement that is absolutely true. Elattrache claimed that the Huggins family, who have helped him and his crew during the development of the dealership, agrees with this. The dealership, founded in 1983 by Gene Huggins and his sons Craig and Ron, has always put the needs of its employees and clients first.
However, management must occasionally use caution in their speech. “Our manager threatened to shave his head if the team achieved a particular target. Guess what we did after achieving that objective? We brought in a barber and had him shaved clean. Everyone enjoyed it a lot since it demonstrated our willingness to, in a sense, put our money where our mouth is. With that, we had a lot of fun. We attempt to make a challenging work enjoyable.
