How is a Honda VIN read?

What each digit in a VIN means?
All road cars had to have standardized VINs by 1954, when the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) started enforcing them.
The majority of people think that a VIN is just a collection of random letters and numbers. However, these symbols are highly structured codes with distinct meanings.
