Similar to the previous generation, the 2.0L VTEC TURBO engine powers the new Civic Type R. The output is different since it has gone from 310 PS to 320 PS. What makes the Type R so quick?

For those bar stool nerds who want to debate the merits of Honda’s decision to use a three pipe exhaust system, his justification is crucial. In fact, the complete opposite. Instead, by silencing it, it improves the sound of the four-cylinder turbocharged engine. In essence, Yamamoto explained, “We’re attempting to enhance the good sound and reduce the unwanted noise.” Honda accomplished this by allowing the central exhaust pipe to serve as a resonator, giving it a smaller diameter than the flanking pipes and spacing it from the larger cans.
According to Yamamoto, the middle pipe functions like a typical exhaust pipe at low to moderate RPMs, spewing gases and “producing a distinctive and sporty engine sound.” He remarked of the Civic Type R’s tailpipes: “But at high RPM, we managed to establish or develop a negative pressure on the center tail-pipe, simply by thermodynamics, without using any flaps or valvesjust by the layout and the diameter of the pipes, by the placement of where they’re linked.” This is done to get rid of the booming sound that reverberates throughout the cabin at highway speeds. Customers may have complained about this in the last Type R, but this time around it won’t be a problem, according to Car Advice.
“We can transfer the frequency to another band so that it will not resonate within the cabin, and by this method we can lessen the booming noise,” said the researcher. “By establishing a negative pressure in the center tail-pipe.” Because noises on the rest of the frequency spectrum are still present, enthusiasts who are concerned that the Type R will be too quiet at high speeds should calm down.
