I’m interested in hearing opinions on how the Odyssey’s 10 speed transmission has performed over time. I’ve had a lot of Honda vehicles in the past. The early models were fantastic, but the J series V6s drove me insane with all the transmission issues they had, regardless of the gearbox they installed in the vehicle (list below). The majority of them would drive terribly until they broke, which made driving an extremely unpleasant experience. They continue to employ faulty transmissions to this day (i.e. the ZF 9 speed). I stopped buying the brand after 2013, but I’m back in the market for a minivan now that we’re expecting a baby later this year. The Odyssey is obviously at the top of the list. But I’m curious about how the 10-speed transmissions are doing. Has anyone encountered issues with them? (i.e. complete failure, hard shifting, etc). Even though it is still quite new, I’m interested in hearing opinions. Thanks!
Accord EX-L from 1994 (my favorite honda of all time, drove 225k miles with 0 problems).
The 2013 TL SHAWD shifted significantly too early, resulting in a loud jerk from gears 1-2 and torque converter problems that appeared at around 20k miles. Dealer acknowledged the issue, but software updates and other fixes did not work.
All TLX models with the ZF 9-speed transmission seem to have problems, as do Pilots with the same transmission.
