The Northern Irishman needed to make an eagle on the par-five 18th hole to force a playoff, and he came agonizingly close to doing so. Lowry told reporters, “I am extremely happy. “To win on this tour, or any tour, is so difficult. Some of the top players in the world are attempting to catch up with you.
“I believed that I was capable of winning all year long, but I thought that I lacked the breaks necessary to triumph in competitions.

She was a remarkable woman, so I was glad the golf tournament went on because I thought it should be a celebration of her life, which is what we had this past weekend at Wentworth, and I think it was quite fantastic.”
He stated: “Because of the circumstances of the week and The Queen’s dying, it is one of those times in time in each of our lives that we will never forget.
