Who Owns BMW Of El Cajon?

BMW of El Cajon has been servicing San Diego for almost 40 years as a proud member of Sunroad Automotive!

El Cajon and the BMW dealer come to an arrangement.

Regardless of the name the organization formerly known as BMW South County chooses, the store will relocate across the street on El Cajon Boulevard to posh new quarters in 2013.

A deal for exclusive negotiations to be made with Sunroad Enterprises for the construction of a new 31,000 square foot BMW dealership at 720 El Cajon Boulevard was unanimously authorized by the El Cajon City Council on Tuesday.

According to Tom Story, Sunroad’s vice president of development, construction of a “new, extremely modern facility” will begin in earnest the following year. Additionally, it is intended to retain the old location.

Before the end of 2015, BMW will invest $12 million into the dealership’s development.

According to City Manager Doug Williford, the city will provide the developer rebates on any sales tax increases above a base of $93,000 per quarter brought on by the construction of the dealership.

According to Williford, the city will “make its best efforts” to repave” Marshall Avenue between El Cajon Boulevard and West Main Street over the following two years. The city will also reimburse the developer for the costs associated with moving the current sewer system and landscaping improvements.

In order to partially recoup Sunroad’s investment in the dealership, more than half of any future additional sales taxes collected by the dealership during the first 15 years of operation will be rebated to Sunroad.

Councilman Bob McClellan, whose family has operated car dealerships in the East County for 70 years, predicted that “it’s going to be fantastic.” “The major source of sales tax is automobiles.”
