GOLF CLUB AT CASTLE PINES
Castle Pines Golf Club, south of Denver, which held “The International” competition from 1986 to 2006, is now home to the PGA TOUR’s BMW Championship. The BMW Championship will make its first trip to Colorado since Billy Horschel (USA) triumphed at Cherry Hills Country Club in Denver in 2014 on his way to winning the FedExCup championship. The renowned Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course at Castle Trees debuted in 1981, capitalizing on the unique Colorado landscape with holes cut among towering Ponderosa pines and natural rock formations. The undulating course, which now has a par of 72 and a length of over 8,000 yards (7,300 meters), has raised, multi-tiered greens and limited fairways.

Return of the BMW Championship to Olympia Fields
The Olympia Fields Country Club, which hosted the competition Jon Rahm won in 2020, will hold the BMW Championship once more in 2023. Additionally, BMW extended its sponsorship of the second FedExCup Playoffs event on the TOUR for a another five years, ending in 2027.

At the 2020 BMW Championship, held at Olympia Fields Country Club in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, Jon Rahm prevailed over Dustin Johnson with a 66-foot birdie putt on the opening hole of the playoff. On the same Olympia Fields North course as the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship was held in 2017, the competition was played without spectators.

Olympia Fields has a long history of winning championships. In addition to the BMW Championship and the 2017 Women’s PGA Championship, it also served as the venue for the Jim Furyk-winning 2003 U.S. Open and DeChambeau’s victorious 2015 U.S. Amateur.
183 Olympia Fields caddies have gone on to get Evans Scholarships over the years, starting with Don Dahlke, who received one in 1954 so that he could attend Northwestern University. As Evans Scholars, nine Olympia Fields caddies are now enrolled in colleges.
The top 70 PGA Tour golfers after The Northern Trust are eligible for the BMW Championship. There are just 70 competitors, hence there is no 36-hole cut.
The 2019 BMW Championship was won by Justin Thomas at Medinah Country Club. After shooting a third-round course record 61, Thomas ended at 25-under 263, tying a tournament record with a final-round 68. Hideki Matsuyama came in third, followed by second-place finisher Patrick Cantlay.

The PGA Tour revealed on Tuesday that the BMW Championship, which will take place in Delaware’s Wilmington Country Club in 2022, will also be played at Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland, in 2025, and Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri, in 2026. In addition to hosting the BMW Championship last year, which was won by eventual FedEx Cup champion Patrick Cantlay, Caves Valley also helped raise a record $5.6 million for caddie scholarships and the establishment of the Caves Valley Evans Scholars Scholarship House at the University of Maryland.
The return of this famous title to Caves Valley Golf Club is a great honor, according to Caves Valley Golf Club President Steve Fader. “We’re still giddy with last year’s performance and the attention it brought to the Baltimore region. The 2008 BMW Championship was previously held at Bellerive Country Club, when Camilo Villegas won for the first time on the PGA Tour. In 2030, Bellerive will also serve as the Presidents Cup host.
Bellerive Country Club President Rick Walsh expressed his excitement about hosting the 2026 BMW Championship and welcoming the FedExCup Playoffs back to St. Louis. “Our club has a long history of hosting major golf championships. We intend to honor our great and encouraging community while putting the participants to a challenging exam.”
The competition was first held in 1899 under the name Western Open, making it the third-oldest competition on the Tour’s calendar, behind the British Open and the U.S. Open. Since 2007, the BMW Championship has helped more than 3,300 men and women attend college by raising more than $40 million for caddy scholarships.
In 2023, the BMW Championship will return to Chicago’s Olympia Fields Country Club, and in 2024, it will make its debut at Castle Pines Golf Club in Castle Rock, Colorado, a suburb of Denver.

Where is the BMW competition taking place?
The 2022 BMW PGA Championship will resume play on Sunday after being suspended on Thursday due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. With several groups still having to complete their first rounds, play will go back up on Saturday at 6:40 a.m. local time in Surrey, England (1:40 a.m. ET).
The DP World Tour issued a statement saying, “All original second round tee times will stay the same and the second round of the BMW PGA Championship will continue at 6:40 a.m. on Saturday morning.” The players who haven’t finished their first round will start doing so at 7:30 a.m. from the spot on the course where they finished on Thursday.
Instead of the usual 72 holes, the tournament, which is the biggest on the DP World Tour, will only have 54 holes.
The statement read, “The Rolex Series event will now be played over 54 holes with a goal of wrapping up on Sunday as scheduled. “Due to ongoing planning for the state funeral, we are unable to guarantee the staff, amenities, or security of the location on Monday, thus it is not possible to play the entire 72 holes and finish on that day. Flags will continue to fly at half-mast throughout the weekend at Wentworth, and black ribbons will be made available for everyone to wear.”
Because the Englishmen Andy Sullivan and Tommy Fleetwood and the Norwegian Viktor Hovland shared the lead at the end of play on Thursday, their opening rounds of 8-under 64 carry even more significance. With only 36 holes remaining, it will be more challenging for chasers to catch up to those at the top of the leaderboard.
The DP World Tour made no mention of altering the cut, therefore it should be reasonable to presume that it will happen after the first 36 holes. If they want to win the largest trophy on the DP World Tour this weekend, they will need to play immaculate golf since the leaders, Rory McIlroy and Billy Horschel, who is also the defending champion, are four shots behind them and Matt Fitzpatrick and Jon Rahm are even farther back.
