The third leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, the BMW Championship, is played at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Illinois, and marks the PGA Tour’s return after a rare week off. In the tournament’s ten-year history, the Tom Fazio-designed course will serve as host a third time.
For some golfers, it’s now or never to crack the top-30 and secure a berth at East Lake for the TOUR Championship. Sergio Garcia (34th), Phil Mickelson (36th), Billy Horschel (38th), Ian Poulter (47th), Rory McIlroy (51st), and Zach Johnson are notable players who need a solid week (54th).

There were 70 golfers that qualified for the competition; after Cameron Smith and Tommy Fleetwood withdrew, there are now only 68 players left. This week there is no reduction.

The most top-10 finishes of any year in his career have come in the 2021–22 season, however he has yet to claim an individual championship. He collaborated with Xander Schauffele to win the Zurich Classic, which has been his only victory in 2022. He became the first player to ever win a playoff event in back-to-back seasons thanks to his BMW repeat.

The Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed South Course offers some extremely nice vistas of significant portions of the golf course as it winds across the undulating hills of northern Delaware. The routing makes the most of the topography to create a course with a great layout design and a variety of holes, including clever short par 4s like the 11th, difficult longer par 4s like the No. 5, and a lovely mixture of par 3. In an effort to improve certain shot options on a few holes before the 2022 BMW Championship, the first PGA Tour tournament to be held in Delaware, several bunkers were installed at the corners of doglegs. Recent tree removal along with some tornado damage have opened up the course even more.

Scottie Scheffler is one shot down at 10-under and appears set to retake the top spot in the FedEx Cup standings going into East Lake, giving him a two-shot lead to begin the tournament. Adam Scott, who leads after 36 holes, is also at 10-under and needs a strong finish to return to the Tour Championship for the first time since 2019.

The American outperformed fellow countryman Scott Stallings by one stroke with a final-day two-under 69 at Wilmington Country Club to finish 14-under.
Where is the BMW Golf Tournament being held?
The 2022 BMW PGA Championship will resume play on Sunday after being suspended on Thursday due to the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. With several groups still having to complete their first rounds, play will go back up on Saturday at 6:40 a.m. local time in Surrey, England (1:40 a.m. ET).
The DP World Tour issued a statement saying, “All original second round tee times will stay the same and the second round of the BMW PGA Championship will continue at 6:40 a.m. on Saturday morning.” The players who haven’t finished their first round will start doing so at 7:30 a.m. from the spot on the course where they finished on Thursday.
Instead of the usual 72 holes, the tournament, which is the biggest on the DP World Tour, will only have 54 holes.
The statement read, “The Rolex Series event will now be played over 54 holes with a goal of wrapping up on Sunday as scheduled. “Due to ongoing planning for the state funeral, we are unable to guarantee the staff, amenities, or security of the location on Monday, thus it is not possible to play the entire 72 holes and finish on that day. Flags will continue to fly at half-mast throughout the weekend at Wentworth, and black ribbons will be made available for everyone to wear.”
Because the Englishmen Andy Sullivan and Tommy Fleetwood and the Norwegian Viktor Hovland shared the lead at the end of play on Thursday, their opening rounds of 8-under 64 carry even more significance. With only 36 holes remaining, it will be more challenging for chasers to catch up to those at the top of the leaderboard.
The DP World Tour made no mention of altering the cut, therefore it should be reasonable to presume that it will happen after the first 36 holes. If they want to win the largest trophy on the DP World Tour this weekend, they will need to play immaculate golf since the leaders, Rory McIlroy and Billy Horschel, who is also the defending champion, are four shots behind them and Matt Fitzpatrick and Jon Rahm are even farther back.

The Tour Championship is held where?
ATHENS — The TOUR Championship 2022 will take place at the East Lake Golf Club beginning on Thursday.
The TOUR Championship, which will end the playoffs, has called East Lake its permanent home since 2004. Each year, the tournament is only open to the top 30 competitors.
The TOUR Championship will be held at East Lake from August 24 to August 28. For the practice round on Wednesday, the gates will open at 9 a.m. The course will start each round from Thursday through Sunday at 10 a.m.
Tee times and pairings will be released the day before each round if you have a certain golfer in mind. The leaderboard and list of available tee times are shown below.
You may buy tickets and packages here. Tickets for the daily ground are priced at $85 for Saturday and Sunday, $70 for Thursday, $75 for Friday. Maximum of two children under the age of 15 are permitted free admission with each adult ticket under the youth ticket program.
PARKING AND COMMUTER USE:
General parking permits for TOUR Championship officials are available for $20, and shuttle buses run to and from the Yellow Lot and Marshalling Yard of the Georgia World Congress Center.
The Drew Charter School, which is across the street, has a drop-off and pick-up location for rideshare users.
TOUR Championship rules state that flash photography is prohibited and that telephones must always be on mute. When preparing for a crucial shot, no golfer wants to hear his phone ring.
There are designated places scattered throughout the course if you need to take or make a phone call. Only for personal use are images and videos allowed to be taken. No live streaming is permitted.
