The year, make, and model of your car are always requested at auto parts retailers. That is not difficult. However, they also require information regarding your engine. Don’t know exactly what’s inside or what year it is? Everything is contained in the engine code (also known as the engine number) and vehicle identification number (VIN). The VIN is located on the driver’s side of your windshield in the lower corner.
The model year is indicated by the tenth number from the left, while the engine code is indicated by the eighth number. You only need to mention those two characters to the store clerk to get started.

I believe there is a serial number sticker on the front of the head that can be seen without removing any coverings or components.
On the right side of the block, close to the end, on the edge where the fly wheel is, there is a white sticker. It provides the chassis number and the vin, such as whether it is an e90, e60, or other.
The only place the N54 has a VIN number is on a sticker just before the transmission. I found out the hard way that you need be careful not to rub the sticker since it turns out that the numbers come off very readily.
The VIN is absent from the white tag. The VIN provided by the seller was checked before I purchased an eBay motor, but when I received it, I was unable to match the engine to the VIN. As the casting dates for the block and head were almost a week apart from the construction date of the automobile based on the VIN, I ultimately decided to believe them.
