To enable the V8-powered race car to participate in the 2002 American Le Mans Series season, BMW created the 2001 BMW M3 GTR (E46). It was designed as an almost exact duplicate of the racing M3 GTR and had a small production run of only 10 cars.
Many of the race car’s weight-saving features are shared by the vehicle on which it is based. The roof and the rear spoiler, which are made primarily of carbon fiber, are employed extensively on the body to increase the aerodynamics of the vehicle. The road car has very few comfort equipment forms or manifestations.
The 4 liter V8 engine is comparable to the V8 engine seen in racing cars, although being modified to comply with noise and emission rules.
Compared to the race car, it has a few more upgrades, including more cooling slits in the bonnet, road-sport suspension, dry sump lubrication, a two-disc sport clutch, and a variable M differential.
The ALMS rules were amended for the 2002 season to require that at least 100 units and 1,000 engines be constructed for a car to qualify for the season, causing BMW to withdraw the racing car from the championship despite its attempts to produce three prototypes and three sold road cars.

‘Need for Speed: Most Wanted’ fans can rejoice.
One of those vehicles that many auto enthusiasts know and adore but have only ever seen on screen when playing Need for Speed: Most Wanted is the BMW E46 M3 GTR. One of the two V8-powered race cars ever produced is now in the possession of Young Timers Garage.
This M3 is equipped for racing and is delivered in a stock colour of gloss silver-gray without any racing liveries. This GTR is offered with a 4.9-liter V8 engine from the M5, which is connected to a six-speed manual transmission and drives the rear wheels, unlike its road-going sibling, which has an inline six-cylinder engine.
Only #004 and #005 had the V8; the other three GTR variants used six-cylinder race engines instead. The listing states that it was entirely renovated for racing, with hollow camshafts, a double row timing chain, and “a semi-dry-sump oil system consisting of two additional scavenging pumps that activate for extreme cornering.”
The style is also up to racing standards. A massive carbon fiber rear wing mounted on the boot deck further emphasizes the widebody package, while a thick grille and a louvered front hood are seen up front. While the rear has been flattened for enhanced aerodynamics, side-exit exhausts hit up the skirts.

This video depicts what the real-world version of Need for Speed: Most Wanted would look like.
No other series of video games geared toward auto enthusiasts brings back memories like the Need for Speed series does. It was certainly a simpler time when you could dash home from the bus stop after school, throw a game disc into your Xbox, and tear through the imagined streets of Rockport. Nearly 15 years after Need for Speed: Most Wanted was released, a Russian production company by the name of Odonata Cinema has made incredible efforts to replicate gameplay on actual streets, and it’s finally time for you to enjoy it.
The classic E46 BMW M3 GTR, the star vehicle of Most Wanted, is seen in the middle of the clip. Its distinctive blue-on-silver livery, which is prominently featured on the game’s cover image and is once more seen on a real E46, makes it instantly recognizable. The BMW enters “Free Roam” mode after a few brief clicks through a synthesized menu created to match the aesthetics of the actual in-game environment, and that’s when the fun really starts.
The third-person camera view of the car is thrust upon you. The BMW begins a race against a few other historically accurate vehicles after a brief point-of-view stint, including a silver MK4 Toyota Supra, a black Porsche Cayman, and a gray Mazda RX-8. Ford Mustang, Volkswagen GTI, and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII are part of another race. A loading screen, pre-race camera angles, a countdown, and even a counterfeit tachometer are all included in each scene’s exquisite editing. Additionally, each event comes with post-race stills that coordinate with the in-game rewards scheme.
Without a police chase, Need for Speed: Most Wanted wouldn’t be the same. A little evade meter displays at the bottom of the screen when the BMW is being chased by an unmarked Ford Mustang in between races.
In case you were curious, the E46 seen throughout the film actually carries the Need for Speed livery in the real world. We regret to inform you that it is not a genuine M3 GTR, nevertheless. The car’s development process was documented by the owner on his Instagram, where it appears that it started off life as a relatively modest 330Ci.
You’re in luck if you feel like seeing more vehicle videos that make you nostalgic. You can view the two other Need for Speed: Underground 2 videos that the same studio created last year here.
What BMW model appears in NFS?
In Need for Speed: Most Wanted, the BMW M3 GTR makes an appearance and is playable right away in career mode.
The M3 GTR serves as the player’s vehicle from the start of the game until it is sabotaged, hence it plays a role in the career. When the player defeats Razor, the first racer on the Blacklist, who also unlocks the vehicle for Quick Race play, the vehicle will be given back to them.
It has good handling, acceleration, and top speed capabilities, but its nitrous injection only gives it a fair speed boost.
What vehicle is featured on NFS Most Wanted’s cover?
In Free Roam mode, a police helicopter and numerous undercover state police cars are chasing the player’s Porsche Carrera GT. The usage of simulated HDRR on the sunny sky and surface lighting is also shown in this screenshot.
Since the first Need for Speed game, the idea of players being approached by police has appeared in the majority of entries in the series. However, during the development of Most Wanted, the gameplay mechanic was improved and firmly established into the series through the use of a sophisticated system. The goal at this point is to escape the chase by either dodging or taking out chasing vehicles when players are involved in a police pursuit, which typically results from committing a traffic offense (referred to in the game as a “Infraction”; such as speeding). During a pursuit, the game’s on-screen HUD is changed to highlight chasing police units on the mini-map, show the vehicle’s heat level, and add a Pursuit bar at the bottom that shows how many police units are involved in the pursuit, how many have been avoided, and how many have been killed. The heat level that has built up against the player’s current vehicle is used by the chase system to determine how the police will handle the player. Heat builds up as a result of committing crimes and eluding the police repeatedly. As heat levels rise, the police become more aggressive, using more tools and tactics (like roadblocks, spike strips, and police helicopters) as well as faster, more powerful vehicles like police SUVs and Federal units. Reinforcements may be summoned in and come after some time if a player just has one car actively following them.
Through careful driving, using their special abilities, ramming pursuing cars, and employing “Pursuit Breakers,” which are environmental traps highlighted on the mini-map and when activated render a specific number of police cars inoperable, such as by smashing through a gas station, players can outrun the police. Once there are no longer any active vehicles in the pursuit, avoiding and eluding the police cannot be accomplished by immobilizing or disabling vehicles, gaining some distance from pursuers, or a combination of the two. When this occurs, the player instead enters a “cooldown” phase that halts the chase (and any reinforcements being called in). During this time, they must hide and avoid being discovered by law enforcement. When the player finds and hides in designated concealment spots around the game’s setting, which are marked on the mini-map during this phase and are used to position them out of sight of police units, the duration of this period, which is longer at higher levels of heat, can be significantly reduced. When the player successfully eludes the police, or is overpowered and cornered, leading to being “busted,” the pursuit is considered to have come to an end.
Is there a BMW M3 GTR in NFS payback?
Is the BMW M3 GTR a playable character in NFS Payback? I adore BMWs, and if possible, I’d like to stream using the M3 GTR, but I’m not sure how to add it to the game.
In less than two minutes, find out if your auto insurance is being overcharged.
It is indeed feasible! In NFS Payback, you must go to Mount Providence, which is situated in the lower left-hand corner of the map, in order to obtain the BMW M3 GTR. In the trees close to some stores, the car will be concealed.
You guys must avoid the police as soon as you have the car. You won’t be able to keep the car if you’re found driving it. But once you reach Ravas, the automobile is entirely yours!
In NFS, you might be able to steal a BMW, but in real life, you’d have to save enough for one. Fortunately, you may save money on your auto insurance with the help of the Jerraay app, allowing you a little extra cash each month to save.
