Transport of PCD cars ends in Charleston, South Carolina, where they are placed onto trains headed for Spartanburg (Greer). I think the actual factory for PCD cars is called the VPC (Vehicle Processing Center). I’ve read that they can handle some port-installed equipment, although Charleston is primarily used for the construction of BMW SUVs. Finally, my ship is scheduled to arrive in Charleston on Saturday. It was a protracted journey.

From SLP Mexico to NY Port, BMW Shipping

In August, I made an order for my first BMW, and it was constructed remarkably quickly. Although I am aware that shipping takes the longest, I was intrigued about the route taken from Mexico to the NY/NJ Port.

Although I was able to locate a lot of information on other sites, I was hoping someone would have more details from a recent shipment of a similar nature. According to what I understand, vehicles for the East Coast are sent from Veracruz, Mexico, to US ports (in my instance, NY/NJ).

Based on that, I concluded that KLine would be the most likely carrier, but when I looked at their forthcoming schedule, I saw that the Newark Port was designated “SKIP” through November. It appears that NYK and Wallenius sail to Baltimore instead.

Actually, I am the harbor pilot responsible for bringing in and docking all ships, including car carriers, at the port of NY/NJ.

If it’s Wallenius and not Whilhelmsen (the two carriers combined), the ship will be named after operas. Please let me know when you find out the name. I’ll include a list of the NY vessel’s arrival times.

With an ETA of 9/29, I’m traveling on the Viking Queen (Hoegh Autoliners). I can follow the ship, but I can’t locate a publicly available timetable. It will likely service the typical US East Coast ports, in my opinion.

Hoegh’s appearance astonished me as well. Every article I read mentioned WW the majority of the time and NYK or KLine seldom.

Ironically, I sent a container for the OOCL Korea on your list to the Maher Terminal today. The generator for the reefer was almost completely empty when the driver arrived.

K Line is that Texas Highway you see that is due on the 20th. primarily Toyota vehicles on a car transporter.

It is presently mounted on a car transporter. Ordered on 8/10, left on 9/15, and arrived in New York on 9/29. Spend a few days at the processing facility if there are no components problems before going to the dealer.

If you’re interested, there are a couple pretty detailed articles on the shipping and tracking on Bimmerpost.

My build order lists New York (Jersey) as the port, yet the ship docked in Philadelphia, and the following order lists Baltimore (I can only see next destination). Going north to Philadelphia, then south to Baltimore, and then back north to New York looks strange.

I’m wondering if Baltimore was just chosen because the port in New York was too crowded. I’ll call tomorrow to see if they have that information, I guess.

The sole deep water (or Panamax-capable) port between Los Angeles and San Francisco, Port Hueneme, supplies the Oxnard complex. California rivals a good number of individual nations as one of the biggest markets for BMW.

Why is BMW at the port, and what does that mean?

It indicates that after leaving the factory, your car had reached its initial location. Congratulations, you won the port lottery if your car arrived at either port. The following ship will carry your vehicle to the port of your destination.

How long are BMW vehicles stored at the port?

Week 2 production is currently at the port and there has been no change in that time. incredibly frustrated Going to Brunswick, GA in the hopes of boarding one of the upcoming boats

same exact circumstance. Lack of a clear method and not having previously ordered a car make the wait more unpleasant, especially when other cars appear to be shipping while some remain on the lot. No halt sales, btw.

I hear you, haha. Around the 12th, Donington will arrive at my port of entry. Recently, I was only curious how long it takes from the port of entry to the dealer.

Recently seems to be moving more quickly. Week 1 students received their automobiles quite fast. Considering that many people from weeks two and three are still in Germany

A BMW Performance front splitter, which is generally placed at the port of entry, is a port installed option on my order. Does anyone know if the car status keeps being “at the port” rather than changing to “in transit” aboard ship, till that option is installed?

No. The tracking will remain constant throughout. in transit from at port(exit) to at port(entry) to in transit

But I have a question for everyone because it seems like there is a gap in reporting when a vehicle is found aboard a ship. I’ve heard it could take a few days. Does anyone have any further information? That is, even though you might actually be on a ship that is 2, 3, or 4 days into its journey, you would still appear at the port.

I spent a brief amount of time at the port, but that was after spending more than three months in QC. I’m back “at the port” right now, but this time I’m waiting for a carrier on the east coast. Over a week has passed already. This past Saturday was supposed to be the day, but it might now be tomorrow. If one spot isn’t where you’re waiting, it’s another

I spent two weeks at the port (heading to Port Hueneme). I’m hoping your automobile finds a boat soon!

How are cars shipped by BMW out of South Carolina?

The largest car exporter in the Southeast is BMW Manufacturing in Spartanburg, South Carolina, which annually exports nearly 70% of the vehicles it produces. The South Carolina plant exported 281, 256 units to 140 nations in 2015 for a value of close to $10 billion.

According to company spokesman Steve Wilson, the BMW plant in South Carolina is the largest automotive exporting facility in the United States based on the value of exports. Last year, China, Germany, and Great Britain were the top export destinations.

The Port of Charleston, which manages the majority of the facility’s exports, receives BMW vehicles by rail from the Spartanburg plant. The corporation also uses Savannah, Jacksonville, and Miami as shipping hubs.

About 95% of all parts for cars BMW makes in Spartanburg are imported through South Carolina’s Inland Port. According to Sky Foster, corporate communications department manager for BMW Manufacturing in South Carolina, that equates to around 250 sea containers per week and includes components like engines and transmissions.

About 500 sea containers containing parts and components for the BMW X3 and X5 are sent by the BMW plant each week. These containers are sent to developing nations around the world, including Egypt, Malaysia, Thailand, India, and Indonesia.

In 2015, the Inland Port exported roughly 20,000 painted X3 and X5 bodies as well as parts and accessories. The cost of the parts and components BMW exports are not disclosed.

Foster stated via email that “the Inland Port is vital for BMW’s import and export activities.” “BMW is able to make investments in new markets through the company’s export program, where we see room for future expansion. Over the last five years, there has been a huge increase in demand for our X models from emerging economies, and we anticipate this trend to continue.”

Where is BMW sold?

I’m examining how BMW utilizes this aspect of the marketing mix in this blog article. BMW is well recognized for their automobiles, particularly because they are considered the pinnacle of German engineering. When implementing their location strategy, BMW imports from nations without a dealer network and uses a large market dealership.

There are now four BMW production facilities located throughout the United Kingdom to meet the brand’s growing demand. With around 4,000 dealers that are completely authorized to sell new or used BMW vehicles, the corporation now conducts business in almost 100 different countries. The BMW Group/Retailer network spends PS1.2 billion annually with suppliers in the UK on goods and services. 80% of BMW’s sales and distribution channels are made up of auto dealers, allowing customers to see the automobiles in person and making personal connections with the salesperson. They can increase automobile sales without spending any money, and car dealers will receive competitive rates. The other 20% of purchases are made online because there is no requirement for physical presence, and customers can customize the cars to their tastes through a virtual showroom before paying for and taking possession of them.

The distribution methods now used by BMW are depicted in the image above. Because BMW sells directly to customers, the top channel demonstrates how online sales operate, yet this might result in channel conflicts. After that, the intermediate channel demonstrates what occurs when they sell to one of their authorized dealerships, and the third channel illustrates what occurs when they sell through wholesalers.
