This E46 M3 slicktop has been modified for use on the street and the track. It has received a number of performance upgrades designed to improve driving enjoyment without altering the E46 M3’s unique personality. For instance, funds were allocated to opulent Recaro seats and pricey cooling system upgrades rather than a supercharger and a carbon fiber hood. While exploring Carmax, I came across this vehicle, which lacked a sunroof and a carbon roof. It appears that the side plastics are black, thus I’m assuming that the roof once had a carbon coating. incredibly intriguing
The S7MA Competition package is indicated by the VIN, therefore at some point, someone painted the roof for some reason. Possibly just an owner choice, or perhaps it was broken and needed fixing. Who is to say? However, it seems odd (or perhaps they were simply being lazy?) that the gutter rails weren’t painted to match.

That’s right; you could order them with a sunroof. But AFAIK, the only available roof for the E92 S7MA was either a sunroof or the standard carbon roof. The CF roofs on the in question car were equipped with black gutter bars. All indications point to the roof being a CF roof because if it were a factory painted roof in any way, the rails would also be white.

The roof was not directly visible. The vehicle was captured in the traditional sales angles. It essentially resembled a 328 with an M3 body package because a moonroof is expected.
