How does JB4 operate?

The JB4 piggyback tuning box deceives the engine ECU into believing there is true boost by intercepting sensor information from all over the engine. BMW uses an ECU regulating parameter that is controlled by torque and load rather than boost.

JB4 can see more of what the ECU is doing thanks to CANBUS monitoring, which creates a sort of closed loop between the tuning box and the ECU.

If JB4 detects a fault, it can enter bypass mode before the ECU issues errors or enters limp mode thanks to fail safe mode, which is located above CANBUS.

All tuning boxes employ additive mapping, or signal interrogation, in order to effectively layer boost onto the ECU boost profile. Competitors of JB4 have an additive boost cap of 4–4.5 psi, however JB4 map 2 with CANBUS connection has an additive boost cap of +6 psi.

Absolute maps – JB4 has the ability to adjust the stacking boost profile for maps 5, 6, and 7. Map 7 is the race fuel high boost map.

A decent remap is more complex than a tuning box since, when done correctly, it will increase the ECU’s load/torque limits and redefine the boost parameters. Although bootmod3 is expanding swiftly for the F series platform and is the route I would take if starting from fresh customizing my car, despite the fact that remap or BM3 require to open up the ECU to overcome encryption, it costs almost twice as much.

Does JB4 affect the outcome?

JB4 CARB is it legal?

For all 2016+ Infiniti Q50/Q60 3.0L Turbo Luxe, Sport, Silver Sport, and Red Sport models, JB4 without gasoline wires is CARB approved under Executive Order (EO) No.D-744-6 and is offered for sale in all 50 States.

On a factory Infiniti Q50/Q60 3.0T, there could be power increases of up to 100 horsepower and 120 torque.

The JB4 Tuner for Infiniti Q50/Q60 3.0T plug and play tuner connects to two easily accessible engine bay sensors and works with your factory DME tuning to remap your boost, timing, and fueling for optimum performance and lessened turbo lag. What does a JB4 bring to HP?

The JB4 is the most sophisticated and fully equipped tuning system for your B58 and B48 car currently on the market. For a B58, bolt-on parts, higher octane, E85 mixes, and larger turbos can increase power by up to 80 horsepower to the wheels (100 horsepower crank) and up to 40 horsepower to the wheels (55 horsepower crank), respectively.

The JB4 offers several features not found with any other tune and comes with a straightforward plug-and-play installation harness for easy installation and removal. Additionally, there are many other features available, such as on-the-fly in-dash map switching between factory and different performance maps, optional in-dash gauge displays for boost, boost limiting by gear for better traction in lower gears, progressive water/methanol support, built-in data logging, built-in code reading, optional direct EWG control to prevent throttle closure with exhaust modifications, exhaust flapper control, and much more. Other more expensive tuners might assert that their technology matches that of the JB4, but upon closer inspection, they will not have many, if any, of the JB4’s features.

Keep in mind that the JB4 does not need any more adjustments or earlier phases. Installing the JB4 is the only alteration you need to make in order to start experiencing a completely new, quick, and smooth racing environment. A REV3 mobile phone adapter or BMS DATA connection should be used if you want to log data or add new capabilities as they become available. The JB4 does not require any user setup or modification. At boot up, the JB4 automatically distinguishes between the B46, B48, and B58 versions, making setup and installation simple.

Please take note that we have not yet implemented the JB4 instructions to allow in-dash control for 2018+ G chassis vehicles with the digital dash layout, but we will do so via a free firmware update whenever those are created. Racechip is SUPER Quality, easy to install, and will easily save 0.80 seconds off of your 0-100 mph pace. If you want to push boost and parts, JB4 will add more average and peak power and go quicker than RaceChip.

Which is superior, JB4 or MHD?

  • For larger turbos, it cannot be used as a standalone tune.
  • The stock ECU timing table and fuelling are limited

The JB4’s drawbacks might not matter if back-end flash tunes combined with the JB4 resolve these problems. For the JB4, MHD provides certain back-end flash maps that are quite affordable. The timing, VANOS, and fueling are moved to the flash side by the back-end flash, but the JB4 keeps its more precise boost control, in-dash gauges, E85 autotuning, and many safety features.

Is JB4 tuner reliable?

After installing the JB4, I am unable to return to stock. For 90% of folks who need more power without incurring the costs of designing a more durable engine, I believe the JB4 is a great purchase. I give this unit an A+ and heartily endorse it for the remaining 90%.

Is JB4 a warranty breaker?

Your warranty is not voided by the JB+ or JB4. However, a warranty claim may be rejected if a malfunction or a component can be linked to an aftermarket item.
