What Does At The Port Mean BMW?

The phrase “At the port” (193) does not, however, imply that your car is actually there. It indicates that after leaving the factory, your car had reached its initial location. Based on what we know so far, there are three potential “initial destinations”: – Bremerhaven Port.

I’m traveling from Spartanburg to Southern California in an X3 M40i. The production status is at stage 12 “At Port” as of yesterday. Given that it is not being delivered abroad, what the heck does “At Port” mean?

Assuming it is coming here by rail directly from the factory, does this indicate that it is still in South Carolina, that it is traveling by rail, or that it is at a transfer location?

Until your car is on its way to your dealer, “At the port” will continue to display; after that, it will change to “In transit.” The coast-to-coast train journey was not considered when designing the system. Be patient, please.

The port in this instance is Oxnard, California. The status used to indicate, “Your car is being transported to the port of exit,” I think this meant the train travel, unless it has changed for the worse.

This indicates that the amount of time spent in Oxnard varies greatly and is at least two days.

BMW’s status is currently somewhat shaky. The status may only occasionally be updated, remain in one state for an excessively long time, or skip steps. Without the status indicating it, the car can just appear at the dealer.

It is not necessary to ship by ship. Possibly an east to west coast train

Don’t take my word for it, but I believe it’s just the general timeline that applies to all orders for automobiles and isn’t vehicle-specific. Therefore, even though the X models lack a “port,” the sedans do have ports. As an illustration, the phrase “at the port” refers to the German port of Bremerhaven, where the G20 that I have on order is waiting for a ship to transport it to the United States.

The “port,” in my opinion, is a staging area where cars are assembled before being shipped east or west on the East Coast (I suppose there is one in New Jersey). But in my experience, the online tracker wasn’t even close to being accurate. It’s possible for your car to be advertised as being “at the port” while it’s actually still in Spartanburg or at your dealer. When it was on my dealer’s lot, mine was still marked as “dispatched from factory” even though it never appeared “at the port.”

VPC

The car travels to the VPC, or vehicle processing center, after disembarking from the ferry (or train). Every port has one, and each brand has its own shop, therefore BMW has its own.

What takes place here? Everything. The vehicle is inspected, and any transit-related damage is fixed. All three types of shops are combined in this one.

This is also where OEM+ items that you’ve requested from the dealer, like floor mats or exhausts, get tacked on. Most of the time, cars are only here for a few days at most, but on rare occasions, “stop sales”—problems with the car that must be resolved universally before any car can be “sold”—may cause them to be delayed. Consider the G80, which had a camera system issue if the Parking Assistant Package was ordered. Other friends who were on the assembly line with me were kept back while the problem was fixed even though mine did not and was allowed through.

The wait only gets more difficult! was yesterday docked. The dealer is holding some sort of summer festival sales, and they genuinely don’t care about the people who paid for their cars. .. looking for new clients…

Like the majority of new automobile buyers, I understand your desperation for your vehicle. But in the end, everything comes down to the size of the dealer, the port (how busy/quickly they clear automobiles), and luck.

I believe they told me it would take 10–14 days, but it arrived so quickly I wasn’t even in Sydney.

Keep us informed. My wife’s X3 is currently on the ship, and we were informed that it would take roughly 10 working days to get it from the port to the dealer and another day or two for pre-delivery. Once it lands in WA, I’m just going to expect it will take a few weeks overall.

This is accurate. It indicates that it hasn’t been transferred to the Prixcar depot and is still at the port.

To give you an idea, mine was released on July 21, picked up by Prixcar on July 26, remained in the NSW Prixcar depot until March 3, arrived at Prixcar in Victoria on April 4, and left the SMG pre-delivery facility on May 5. I finally received it on August 11!

BMW uses the transportation service Prixcar.

My vehicle was purchased just as it was being loaded onto the ship, thus it couldn’t be modified because it was already scheduled to be unloaded at the port in Wollongong, New South Wales.

I appreciate the updates. Early this morning, our car was released at the dock. I’m therefore going to assume a few weeks from now. It has just been 2.5 months, so not long, I suppose!

An update, then

Wife enjoys the X3. The rear numberplate was slightly misaligned when they bolted it on, and I only discovered this after we arrived home. On Monday, I’ll ask them to fix it. I’m not sure if that entails drilling new holes, so I’ll unscrew it later and have a look.

I’ve never purchased a new car before, but I ordered my M240i in March; delivery isn’t expected until at least August. I’m not sure if that is typical or not.

Although I made the deposit on March 30th, construction didn’t start until the first week of June. Before they could even get a spot in line, it took more than two months.

Your BMW will have to go across the Atlantic if it was produced in Germany. Once more, call BMW GENIUS in the beginning so they can provide you with the shipping company the vehicle will employ.

What is the average port stay for a BMW?

Week 2 production is currently at the port and there has been no change in that time. incredibly frustrated Going to Brunswick, GA in the hopes of boarding one of the upcoming boats

same exact circumstance. Lack of a clear method and not having previously ordered a car make the wait more unpleasant, especially when other cars appear to be shipping while some remain on the lot. No halt sales, btw.

I hear you, haha. Around the 12th, Donington will arrive at my port of entry. Recently, I was only curious how long it takes from the port of entry to the dealer.

Recently seems to be moving more quickly. Week 1 students received their automobiles quite fast. Considering that many people from weeks two and three are still in Germany

A BMW Performance front splitter, which is generally placed at the port of entry, is a port installed option on my order. Does anyone know if the car status keeps being “at the port” rather than changing to “in transit” aboard ship, till that option is installed?

No. The tracking will remain constant throughout. in transit from at port(exit) to at port(entry) to in transit

But I have a question for everyone because it seems like there is a gap in reporting when a vehicle is found aboard a ship. I’ve heard it could take a few days. Does anyone have any further information? That is, even though you might actually be on a ship that is 2, 3, or 4 days into its journey, you would still appear at the port.

I spent a brief amount of time at the port, but that was after spending more than three months in QC. I’m back “at the port” right now, but this time I’m waiting for a carrier on the east coast. Over a week has passed already. This past Saturday was supposed to be the day, but it might now be tomorrow. If one spot isn’t where you’re waiting, it’s another

I spent two weeks at the port. I’m hoping your automobile finds a boat soon!

What occurs to the autos at the port?

Cars are unloaded from cargo ships at U.S. ports and put in storage lots until a car hauler, a trailer or semi-trailer designed to transport passenger cars, comes along to take them up. Typically, they have a nine-car capacity. Depending on how far it needs to go, the car could either be transported directly to the dealership after being put onto a car trailer, or it could be delivered to an auto ramp for a long-distance transportation over rail.

What shipping firm does BMW employ?

Wallenius and Wilhelmsen are the most frequently utilized carrier for BMW, with Kline and NYK coming in second. The links to the various shipment schedules or search pages that BMW utilizes are provided below.

How long does it take a BMW from Germany to get there?

From the date of drop-off, it will take every vehicle between 6 and 8 weeks to travel from Bremerhaven, Germany, to the East Coast and 8 to 10 weeks to travel from Bremerhaven, Germany, to the West Coast, where it will then be delivered in its whole. Be advised that leaving your car somewhere other than Germany will cause your arrival to be delayed.

How do I find my BMW’s whereabouts?

Alternately, you can dial 1.844 to reach the BMW Genius Hotline. Call 4GENIUS (443-6487) for help with tracking. The majority of BMW X models are typically constructed in the USA in 4-5 weeks, whereas BMWs built outside the USA often take 10 weeks to get here on the West Coast.

How long does it currently take to get a new BMW?

Currently, the average lead time for new BMW orders is between 20 and 24 weeks. In addition to the four to six weeks of transit time that some models require, which is included in the average, lead times for electric and plug-in hybrid models are longer due to very high demand.

The firm informed us that while new-car inventory at BMW dealers is smaller than it has typically been, buyers may still browse what is offered online. Most new automobiles that are in stock can be delivered in less than two weeks.

How soon after the factory does BMW leave?

3-6 weeks to the US, provided it is rapidly loaded onto the boat, which priority 1 automobiles typically are. Following another 2-3 days at VPC, another 2-3 days are needed to go to Florida. Add additional week or two if you had ED. Realistically, early August would be the longest and middle July would be the fastest. Simply keep track of which boat it boarded to have a better idea of where it is.

How can you tell if your vehicle is a Priority 1 vehicle? My CS has been in “Quality Check” since the freaking 8th of June.

On the west coast, I was hoping to have by the beginning of August, but I’m confident it won’t happen right now.

You ought to be given priority if your vehicle was a customer-ordered vehicle. Ask your dealer to check your VIR; it should be there.

Since you received a CS, it is probable that it will remain at quality check for some time if US emissions, safety, or any other number of production-related issues need to be resolved at the factory. I wish you quick delivery!

Mine required 18 days. sent from the factory on 6/10. Accessed dealer on 6/28. I acquired it today. The My Garage, in my opinion, continues to be a few days behind schedule. My automobile is still shown as being in transit.
