Baseball Hall of Famers and actor Anthony Anderson are the stars of the BMW Charity Pro-Am.
Celebrities who will play with professionals over the four-day tournament at Thornblade Club and The Carolina Country Club were announced for the annual BMW Charity Pro-Am on Tuesday.
The competition, which is a part of the Korn Ferry Tour, the main training ground for the PGA Tour, will take place from June 9 to 12. During the first two rounds, golfers will rotate between the courses; the remaining two rounds will only be contested at Thornblade.
It is still the only golf event on the feeder tour where amateurs, famous people, and professionals compete in a best-ball format over two courses. The overall prize pool is $750,000, with a $126,000 winner’s share.
Actor Anthony Anderson, Baseball Hall of Famers Ken Griffey Jr. and Ozzie Smith, and former South Carolina and NFL great receiver Sterling Sharpe are among the top returning stars. Comedian Larry the Cable Guy and boxer Canelo Alvarez, the latter of whom drew sizable crowds for his debut last year, are two more fan favorites returning.

The 26-year-old held off playing partner Ben Griffin at the second hole of a playoff to claim the victory in rather stressful circumstances. Shelton was 22 under par going into the event’s final round, but he shot an even-par round to keep it open. Griffin overcame a five-shot deficit, finishing with a par on the last hole and birdies on holes 16 and 17.
The celebration following the victory, which Shelton’s parents, fiancée Kelsie, and dog Riggs were all present for, may have been its most memorable and poignant moment. This was Shelton’s first victory since May 2019.
Shelton was given a handsome $135,000 winner’s payment, and the victory propelled him from position 63 to position 14 in the points standings for the tour.
