Fans are delighted by well-known actors, musicians, and athletes at the

Baseball Hall of Famers and actor Anthony Anderson are the stars of the BMW Charity Pro-Am.

Celebrities who will play with professionals over the four-day tournament at Thornblade Club and The Carolina Country Club were announced for the annual BMW Charity Pro-Am on Tuesday.

The competition, which is a part of the Korn Ferry Tour, the main training ground for the PGA Tour, will take place from June 9 to 12. During the first two rounds, golfers will rotate between the courses; the remaining two rounds will only be contested at Thornblade.

It is still the only golf event on the feeder tour where amateurs, famous people, and professionals compete in a best-ball format over two courses. The overall prize pool is $750,000, with a $126,000 winner’s share.

Actor Anthony Anderson, Baseball Hall of Famers Ken Griffey Jr. and Ozzie Smith, and former South Carolina and NFL great receiver Sterling Sharpe are among the top returning stars. Comedian Larry the Cable Guy and boxer Canelo Alvarez, the latter of whom drew sizable crowds for his debut last year, are two more fan favorites returning.

We like to have a mix, and we want them to interact with the fans and attend the evening events if they can. They really leave saying it’s fantastic the way they are treated here by our staff, volunteers, and the community, said Max Metcalf, BMW manager for government and community relations and secretary treasurer for South Carolina Charities, Inc.

The Guinness World Record round Rhein Gibson scored seven years ago may not have had as much of an impact on his career as his 8-under par performance in the final round of the BMW Charity Pro-Am on Sunday at Thornblade Club.

Mobile Meals of Spartanburg, the Cancer Society of Greenville County, the Meyer Center for Special Children, the Gibbs Cancer Center and Research Institute, and the Roper Mountain Science Center are some of the featured charities for this year. More than $14.3 million has been given to charitable organizations in Upstate and Western North Carolina since the tournament’s start.

The event will be held in Spartanburg for the first time in ten years; The Carolina Country Club has a two-year deal that runs through next year. The tournament, which first took place in 2001, has been held at Thornblade in Greer since 2008.

Due to the fact that it is an Upstate event and we always included Spartanburg charity even when we were not present, Metcalf remarked, “It’s very excellent for all of us.” Being back in Spartanburg, I can’t say enough about the leadership in the business community, the people who have known about the golf tournament for years, and the vibrancy, energy, and enthusiasm through OneSpartanburg, the city, county, and others. But the tournament does have a history of changing courses.

The celebs who will be competing are listed below. Only a short time before the tournament begins, pairings and tee times will be made public.
