BMW sports cars are known for their confident handling and potent turbocharged engines, and the 2022 Z4 convertible meets those expectations. However, its upmarket cabin, which is cozy enough to be used as a daily driver, also contributes to its appeal. An energetic turbocharged four-cylinder serves as the base engine, but the M40i model’s more aggressive twin-turbo inline-six is available. All Z4s have rear-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission that is equally at home cruising down the highway as it is engaging in sportier driving. Although the handling isn’t as precise as a Porsche Boxster, it’s nevertheless really entertaining on a winding road. The BMW Z4 has been a huge success for the firm across three generations, and while the latest model has reverted to a typical canvas soft-top, the previous model seemed a bit more like a boulevard cruiser with its folding hard-top. It’s a format that works well for the Z4 because of its retro design, which includes a huge engine up front beneath that tall hood, rear-wheel drive, and a cockpit with only two seats. It operates here flawlessly, supporting its sporty style with ample power and excellent road manners.
Despite this, the vehicle is still fairly hefty and isn’t as agile as a Porsche 718 Boxster or an Alpine A110. One of the two four-cylinder vehicles would be our choice because they seem more nimble and enjoyable to drive. All of the models will make you happy, but some purchasers will want for a manual transmission and a more responsive steering wheel. As far as sports cars go, the build quality and specifications are difficult to fault, and it is also rather practical.
The rear-wheel-drive BMW Z4 is a two-seater convertible sports car with a classic fabric folding roof, a variety of potent engines up front, and a sizable boot in the back. The 2022 BMW Z4 roadster sells two seats that strap on top of a capable chassis, behind turbo-4 or turbo-6 engines. It is sexy, slippery, and sporty. It now competes with the Jaguar F-Type, possibly the Chevy Corvette, and even the Mazda Miata.

It’s more of what vanished this year. BMW attributes the loss of ambient lighting, wireless smartphone charging, a wi-fi hotspot, and touch inputs on its infotainment display to the global semiconductor shortage.
The Z4 has a broad stance, powerful haunches, and a profusion of elements that work nicely together. It is stylish, but not excessively so. With leather, wide-screen digital displays, and aluminum trim adorning its top edition, its cabin could not be more functional and built to wrap around the driver.
BMW offers the Z4 with either a 382-hp turbo-6 or a 255-hp turbo-4 engine. Both can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 5.2 seconds, or under four seconds for the Z4 M40i, and they both have an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters to make up for the absence of a manual shifter. On its standard 18-inch wheels and a comfort-tuned suspension, the rear-drive Z4 handles well, but with 19-inch wheels, adaptive dampers, and M Sport tuning and braking, it is mercilessly flat on the track and anything but awkward on the road. According to the EPA, it can achieve at least 25 mpg on the highway.
Two 6-foot tall passengers can fit comfortably in the Z4; the trunk holds just under 10 cubic feet. The power-folding cloth top may be raised or lowered in only about 10 seconds and at speeds of up to 31 mph.
Low-speed automated emergency braking is included on the Z4, although blind-spot monitors and adaptive cruise control are extra.
The Z4 sDrive30i costs $50,895 and comes with 18-inch wheels, synthetic leather interior, a turbo-4 engine, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The M40i is priced from $64,695.

Given that it is a BMW, the construction is sturdy and of high caliber. The heated option is wonderful for frigid winter mornings or when the roof is down on a bright but cool day, and the seats are pleasant for lengthy trips.
The car’s interior is well-designed and functional, and although being modern, it has a retro sports car feel about it.
My automobile has exceptional fuel efficiency, but that is only because it is a four-cylinder model. The six cylinder autos must be considerably thirstier, in my opinion. Being a smaller engined vehicle, the performance is obviously not spectacular, but it is decent and always enjoyable, whether in a city or on the open road. Also good is the road handling. Always feel secure.
The car’s two seats and limited baggage room are its sole drawbacks, but if you need such things, a two-seat sports car isn’t really what you should acquire in the first place.
However, the automobile has a ton of storage compartments, many of which are lockable, so even with the roof down, it’s still secure.
As a result of my ownership experience, I would suggest one to anyone. I’ve owned quite a few cars over the years, but this is by far one of my favorites since it’s well made, thoughtfully designed, entertaining, and dependable.
