Pentosin oil, both 5w-30 and 5w-40, is sold at work. For about $12 per quart, I would certainly hope it’s a high-quality oil, but what do we know about it?
Good oils, perhaps above average, but only that. Pentosin 5W40 is a typical HC oil. There are far better oils on the market, including at Wal Mart. But their 5W30 Pento III, which is compatible with diesel engines and fulfills VW 504.00/507.00, MB 229.51 and BMW LL-04 standards, is really, really good.
I’m not sure whether anything has changed since Fuchs took over in March 2016. When it comes to steering fluid, DSG fluids, and really decent (though not top) braking fluid, Pentosin is often regarded as the best in the industry.
