There might not be a generation of the BMW X4.
With new models like the iX and i4, BMW has been concentrating on expanding its electric roster, but it also appears that some of its gas-powered cars may be discontinued. According to a recent source, the BMW X4 SUV will no longer be produced.
The X4’s demise is reported by BMW Blog, which cites information from a Bimmer Post user as “yngludyn” who said that the “G46 X4 may have been cancelled – not confirmed.” This user has predicted previous revisions to BMW’s lineup accurately, but for now, it’s only a rumor.
Although it has the same platform as the X3, the X4 had substantially fewer sales. It wouldn’t be too shocking if BMW opted not to release another version of the X4 when the next-generation X3 is released given that BWM only sold 10,622 units of the X4 last year while 75,858 X3 vehicles were sold.

To be fair, it succeeds in that endeavor. But wouldn’t people buy an X3 if they desired practicality? The X4 gives off the impression of being a car that wants to be lavishly pointless but is unable to muster the necessary will.
When the original BMW X6 was introduced, the concept of a “utility car” with purposefully restricted utility seemed absurd, and nothing has changed since then, when looked at objectively. Hey, rationality hasn’t stopped them from selling, after all.

The BMW X4 is a small luxury crossover SUV that BMW has been producing since 2014. Will BMW produce an X4 hybrid?

A more powerful 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 156 horsepower has replaced the three-cylinder gasoline engine in another 3 Series model, the 318i. The 2.0-liter diesel engine with 187 horsepower has been available in the 1 Series hatchback since January, but mild hybrid support won’t come until later this year.

Will there be a BMW X4 in 2023?
With a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, the base models of the 2023 BMW X3 and 2023 BMW X4 are equipped with 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. These ratings increase to 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet if you choose the 2023 X3 M Competition or X4 M Competition.
Through the M xDrive AWD system, an 8-speed automatic transmission with performance tuning drives all four wheels. The M Active Differential, a standard limited-slip rear differential, is also available on the BMW X4 M and X3 M models. BMW’s top speed is electronically capped at 155 mph, but if you choose the optional M Driver’s package ($2,500), the limitation won’t engage until 177 mph, and you’ll also receive a day of driving instruction at a BMW performance center.
The BMW X4 and BMW X3 have a standard 8-inch ground clearance. That isn’t enough for serious off-roading, but it will get you down a well-maintained dirt trail. The X3 is your best option if you need to tow because BMW provides an optional factory tow hook that enables the SUV’s 4,400-pound towing capacity.
Although the 2023 BMW X3 and 2023 BMW X4 fuel-economy ratings from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are not yet available, they are not expected to differ from the 2022 values. 2022 BMW X3 sDrive30i RWD fuel economy in combined city and highway driving is 25 mpg. The combined mileage of the AWD X3 xDrive30i and X4 xDrive30i is 24 mpg. In combined driving, the 6-cylinder X4 M40i and X3 M40i achieve 23 mpg.
