Does the free maintenance offered by BMW carry over?
Does anyone know if BMWs include maintenance that, once the lease transfer process is complete, goes to the new owner? According to my understanding, BMW made certain adjustments around 2017–2018, including the removal of the brake coverage and the restriction on maintenance to the original owner only. I was curious if this also extended to lease transfers. Additionally, I learned that you could purchase a maintenance refresh package that would include brake coverage and permit transfer to a new owner. I believe I saw one of the brokers here offer to sell the for, say, $475, but I’ve been unable to find that thread or broker again.

Yes. For them to “reinstate” it, you must contact the finance department at a dealership. The UltimateCare “refresh” costs $100, but dealers occasionally mark it up.

According to what I understand, the’refresh’ simply ‘activates’ it on the freshly moved car rather than actually transferring it over. If so, does it make sense?

You simply give your local dealer’s finance department a call and let them know you’ve just taken over a lease and would like to pay $100 to purchase the scheduled maintenance. They might try to charge you more or get you to buy the UC+ instead, but if you stand your ground and tell them it only costs $100, they’ll typically give in and email you the invoice and paperwork to complete and return instead. I’ve done it a few times on BMW leases I’ve taken over, and it’s quite simple. It entirely allays concerns about “losing maintenance” during a transfer. And it’s a great deal at $100.

This relates to my recent 36K-mile 2015 BMW 75OLix purchase. Up until November 2018 or 48K miles, whichever happens first, it is covered by warranty.
I contacted to schedule an oil change for my car and was informed that they only advise when the service lights are illuminated. I learned that I can transfer the remaining $700 from the maintenance program (but will cover only things following the maintenance schedule and service lights)
With the change of ownership, the factory maintenance schedule is immediately and without cost transferred. Due to my suspicion that they are attempting to pull a fast one, I would enquire with another vendor.
