The Mustang’s street manners may have left some of our reviewers shaking in their boots, but its track manners undoubtedly did not. The Mustang is hilarious, says AB. In fact, I enjoy driving it more than the BMW. Although it is bigger and heavier, this is the one that catches your attention because to its iconic style, the magnificent roar of the large V-8, the incredibly grippy tires, and the blazing Orange Fury paint job. Like several of my coworkers, I don’t mind its street manners as much. I thought its ride was quite compliant for what it is. It does tramline slightly as a result of the wide Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 near-slick tires, but any vehicle with this size of wheels and tires will do that (the Mustang Shelby GT350R does it, too).
JB: The PP2 is entertaining in an overt manner. The Mustang’s engine is a rev-monster for a V-8, and it’s fun to keep pushing it to its limits. The Mustang isn’t far behind the BMW in the low rev range, in my opinion, but the Mustang’s manual transmission gives it an edge over the BMW in terms of street enjoyment.
MH: The M4 was faster to drive than the Mustang, but it didn’t make it more enjoyable. The Mustang has more direct steering with better turn-in, incredible cornering grip, and a thrilling V-8 engine. My time on the M4 track was nice yet adequate. It wasn’t enough with the Mustang; I was having too much fun.

The cost-to-performance ratio is the intriguing feature. Although the M4 is more expensive than a GT with performance pack, it is faster. It must move more quickly. But is it truly $20k+ faster, you ask?
It has always been the case that performance cars are predicated on both price and performance.

I find that to be more intriguing. However, statistics only tell part of the tale. You’ll get tired with the shaking and vibrating of a GT500. Fanboys who have never driven and never will won’t be aware of it.
All I wanted was to start a debate. Success. On a more serious note, I always bet on the M4. This Mustang only has 20 horsepower more than the previous one and is even heavier. While the M4 has substantially more torque and is lighter than the M3 Coupe. In addition, the M4 features a 7-speed dct, whilst the Mustang has a 6-speed auto. I don’t dislike Mustangs; in fact, I think this car looks better than the M4 hands down. However, when the last-generation 5.0 Cayote was out and it nearly matched the M3 e92’s track performance, everyone went crazy and everyone expected the “next” Mustang GT to blow the M3/M4 out of the water. The fact that the Mustang GT is still the underdog makes me laugh, therefore. I don’t notice any significant progress. I should wait for the official tests before making a judgment, but logically speaking, it won’t be able to even compete with the M4, let alone surpass it. Oh, and the E92 M3 coupe was OUTSTANDING.
What sort of a contrast is this? The price of one car has doubled. Although I’m not a “Stang Fanboy,” I am aware that a 15′ “Stang” can have $5–10K worth of modifications including an M4 Killer.
