I checked the real aux port to see if there was any debris there, but there wasn’t.
Since I don’t think the radio has ever been taken out or replaced, a code problem shouldn’t be the cause.
This is making me crazy. Instead of listening to bad local radio, I want to listen to podcasts!
If it doesn’t solve the problem, I would remove the aux port and use a multimeter to check for faulty connections. Additionally, I’d check the pin connector.

Make sure the aux cable only has two rings and not three by inspecting it. I experienced same problem and resolved it by switching to a monster aux 2 ring cable. The 3-ring cable is still not working. I hope it works.

In order to stop sporadic sound cut out, I cleaned the female and male connections with isopropyl alcohol and a tissue around a year ago. Since then, no issues.
