I learned I could program the following using Bimmercode, and I have.
- lre tlc lhz = F25 LIN VARIANTE LRE
- F25 Lenkradheizung verbaut = F25 CODDT BYTE 00 SZL LIN LHZ
- szl aic 4 band fla = F25 LIN VARIANTE SZL
- Activating F25 LRE Verbaut
Additionally, the following information is relevant to the understanding of the values above:
- The German term for heated steering wheel is LHZ (Lenkradheizung).
- The Switch cluster steering column is known as SZL (Schalt Zentrum Lenkrad).
- The steering wheel’s control unit is called LRE (Lenkrad Elektronik).
- Bus = Lin in LIN
- LIN VARIANTE LRE = set with the lre tlc lhz parameter if the vehicle has heated steering wheel and lane departure warning (Vibration).
- high beam assistance
- AIC: Intermittent switch for rain sensor
- 4 Band: Heated steering wheel
- Rear wiper switch, HW
I’ll shortly post photographs. At this moment, the switch’s light turns on, but neither the wheel nor the gauge cluster are warm, indicating that the switch is in use.
Based on my scant investigation, I believe I must take the following actions:
0) Take a look at the FA in the automobile and save it as a file.
1) Add the 248 code to the FA, save the modifications, compute the FP, and save the FA (to the file above) rather than writing it to the car.
2) Turn on the FA.
Reading SVT (…
4) Perform a right-click, then CODE each of the following ECUs in the following order: FRM, ICM, JBBF, and KOMBI.
5) Unplug from the vehicle.
I would load the FA from the file updated in 1 above and recode the four ECUs stated above if the dealer ever attempted to overwrite my changes.
I have the heated steering wheel for cold weather, but when I turn it on, there is only the LED on the switch, which I can’t see while I’m driving. Perhaps the cluster indication was introduced in subsequent years as it’s 2011?
I haven’t tried turning it on when it’s warm outside, but perhaps the ambient temperature must be below a specific threshold before the wheel will heat up.
I code the necessary modules after adding the option number to the VO/FA when retrofitting options so that the modules receive the proper coding for that option number.
In my 2016 X3 with NBT, there is no indicator in the instrument cluster that the steering wheel heating is on. only the button’s LED indicator. Maybe they put a signal in the cluster with NBT Evo, but I’m not sure.
Although I’ve seen a number of discussions about coding the heated steering wheel, I’ve never come across a detailed description of the procedure.
For the record, I have confirmed that I have the wiring harness and heated element for my steering wheel. The HSW switch, which turns on the instrument panel indicator, is something I added. Both the switch’s own light and the temperature of the steering wheel are nonexistent.
I have a bluetooth connector and the Bimmercode app. Does anyone have beginner-friendly coding instructions?
When I used Bimmercode’s expert function, I was unable to find the appropriate settings.

When you turn on the heated steering wheel in a 2014 328 XDrive Sports Wagon, a visual indicator appears on the dashboard. Actually, it was a component of a service pack update.
My X3 revealed two bits of literature that were at odds with one another. It should display on the dash, according to one of the inserts that was included in the owner’s package. However, the real owner’s manual makes no mention that it should, and the dealer claims they’ve never seen one that did.
In terms of software, adding this is simple. It’s arguably the least ergonomically comfortable switch I’ve ever seen, but I wouldn’t care as much if you could actually see the damned thing when you’re driving. I frequently use the heated steering wheel since it feels so wonderful on my arthritic fingertips.
Just curious if anyone who received the Cold weather package and has since turned the switch on and off has experienced any feedback. There is no clear reason why I shouldn’t have the indication, so I’m going to pursue it with BMW.

Due to the decision, the iX3 will also receive many of the improvements that were installed in its gasoline and diesel-powered sister.
This September, the upgraded iX3 will begin production at the BMW Brilliance Automotive plant in Shenyang, China. The new M Sport model, which will be the new entry-level car in the UK, will start at PS59,730.
The updated iX3 features a redesigned front bumper that, according to BMW, shares design cues with the company’s newest electric vehicles, the iX SUV and i4 sedan. The kidney grilles on the SUV are now a little bit bigger than before and have new mesh-like inserts.
Additionally, BMW now includes its M Sport design package as standard equipment on all models in the iX3 lineup. This package adds a lower front splitter and some new gills for the front wings to the SUV’s adaptive LED headlights.
The updated iX3 has a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system and sports seats as standard interior features. A new start-stop button, a gear lever particular to the model, and a drive mode selection are now located in the center console, which has also been modified.

A heated sports steering wheel, electrically adjustable and heated front seats, a six-color ambient lighting system, and three-zone automatic climate control are all included in the cabin. For a 0-62 mph time of 6.8 seconds and an electronically controlled top speed of 112 mph, according to BMW, that is plenty. Additionally, the maximum range is 286 miles, and a complete recharge with an 11 kW wallbox takes roughly 7.5 hours.
The electrical system of the iX3 will, however, facilitate substantially faster 150kW DC rapid charging. Find a good outlet, and according to BMW, the battery can be charged in 32 minutes from 10 to 80 percent of its capacity. Or, to put it another way, 62 miles of electricity can be covered in just 10 minutes of charging.

What’s the process for a heated steering wheel?
Instead of utilizing a standard plastic steering wheel, a heated steering wheel cover adds warmth by using a heating element. On chilly winter mornings when your fingertips could feel chilly, it is very helpful. The advantages of a heated steering wheel are as follows:
- The most obvious advantage of a heated steering wheel cover is the increased comfort on chilly days. It can immediately thaw your frozen fingertips after you’ve walked to your car.
- Grip improvement: Some heated steering wheel covers also provide you better control. They make you more comfortable and provide you better control over the wheel, which is crucial on slick roads.
- Your heated steering wheel cover can help protect your wheel without even being turned on. Your wheel might be protected from damage by the cover itself.
- Faster heat-up time: In the winter, getting ready to go can take some time because your SUV needs some time to warm up. This speed can be increased by including an extra heat source.
A heated steering wheel cover can be used to add this function to an SUV that doesn’t already have one. For an opulent interior, combine a heated steering wheel cover with high-quality seat covers.
