Why is my BMW’s service light on?
- Needs Oil Changes: When it is time for an oil change, your BMW service engine light will on. The goal is to inform you when the time and mileage limits for your current oil have been reached. If you keep using your engine without changing the oil, even the best repair shop won’t be able to fix it.
- Low Oil or Other Fluid Levels: The service engine light also warns of low transmission fluid, coolant, or oil levels. Due to these low levels, this safety feature works to protect your car’s components.
- Regular Scheduled Maintenance: The computer in your BMW is preprogrammed with the timings for your regularly scheduled maintenance. The service engine soon light signals that your car needs to be taken in for its scheduled maintenance.
Your BMW will live longer and retain its value if you have routine maintenance done on it. You will eventually harm your car’s engine and other parts if you neglect any regular maintenance.
With the right preventive maintenance, a well-built car like a BMW can last for hundreds of thousands of kilometres. If your service engine light turns on, consider it a chance to save money and ensure you have a dependable car to drive for many years.

The 2015 and later S1000RR overheating issue is a two-part problem. A mystery coolant loss that cannot be duplicated at low speeds is noticed on the majority of these bikes when they are ridden extremely hard at high speeds. Although we have spotted several in New England as well, these similar bikes are normally seen in warmer climates.

The “Check Engine” or “Service Engine Soon” light suggests that your engine or transmission may need to be repaired or replaced. It indicates that there is a system breakdown with the fuel, transmission, ignition, or emissions rather than just requiring routine maintenance or repairs.

Is the S1000RR cozy?
Despite being an unforgiving racing machine, the BMW S1000RR is, by sportbike standards, adequately capacious and comfortable to live with while traveling long distances. This is in part because of the luxurious and cozy M seat. BMW debuted a self-supporting adjustable seat unit in 2017 that makes use of the M Swingarm pivot’s customizable shape.
According to a review on Motorcycle News, the BMW S1000RR is the market’s most comfortable superbike. Long trips can be traveled in comfort as long as you stop every hundred miles or so to stretch. Because of its hardness and slip-resistance cover, the optional M seat is also performance-optimized because it conserves power during heavy braking or acceleration, improving motorcycle stability.

What is the Motoscan app’s price?
I think there was a brief discussion about the ScanTool diagnostic tool here quite some time ago. Despite the fact that I completely agree that the Hex GS911 is a fantastic piece of technology, I was hesitant to spend $400 on it considering how little use I would actually have for it. By coincidence, I came across some information about the ScanTool and chose to give it a shot. I paid $79 for the MX model and a cable adaptor to connect the OBDII port to the 10-pin connector on my bike. The ScanTool has its own app and is a Bluetooth device. However, the app is designed for cars, so I downloaded the Motoscan app instead, which is exclusive to BMW motorcycles. The app was very functional and seamlessly integrated with the MX, allowing me to choose my preferred bike type. My major goal was to use it to flawlessly reset my service reminder. In order to enable a full braking system bleed, the motoscan app now has the option to turn on the bike’s ABS module in a similar fashion to how the GS911 does. Although I haven’t used it yet, the feature is present in the app. I don’t claim that this gadget and app combination will perform all the functions of a GS911, but it has a ton of functionality for at least basic bike maintenance.
Total Price:
$20 for a connector cable for a 10-pin connector (Amazon) Although my 2015 has 10 pin connectors, newer bikes won’t require the converter cable because they now have OBD connectors.
Motoscan app Pro verision $27.95 (Android Play store) The majority of features, including resetting the service reminder, require the pro version.
I therefore like this configuration and wanted to share the information because it costs $130 instead of $400.
