For enhanced builds, the M50 iron block is the best choice. The M50 iron block comes in two different models: the M50B20 and M50B25. Unexpectedly, the early M50 is actually a rather robust little engine. They can handle about 400 horsepower in stock form, and with some internal modifications, over 600 horsepower is feasible, as is the case with Josh King’s powerful 650 horsepower M50 turbo.
The engines are also content to rev up to over 7000RPM, thus hitting the limiter isn’t a major problem for those operating the engine. To be fair, they do sound rather lively when put through a limiter.
