How To Reset Service BMW E90?

I’m going to use a short YouTube video I previously made to demonstrate how to reset your service lights. All you need to do is push a few buttons on your car, no tools or other equipment are needed.

the following steps:

Press the start button after inserting a key into the ignition. Hold off until every check-light and beeping has stopped. To reset the odometer, press and hold the brake pedal until a yellow triangle appears. After that, let go of the odometer reset button and use the scroll on the left side of the steering wheel to locate the icon you wish to reset the service light for. The reset light will turn on when you press the top button (the BC button) on the left control handle. Press it once more and hold it for a little while. That ought to finish it. Until you have completed everything that needs to be done, you can scroll. Take a keyfob out once you’re finished, and you’re all set to go!

Excellent Post—it took a few tries to get the sequence just right, but the final result (3 minutes) worked flawlessly! Continue the excellent work!

Make sure to keep holding the brake and odometer through the yellow triangle so that the service reset menu will automatically open.

MANY THANKS TO DIMSUM!!!!! I recently had an AC icon crop up, and I just reset it today after seeing your video. In addition, the closest dealer is 1500 kilometers away. I believe I owe you a case of beer, but we are on the opposite end of the city. I was raised on the west shore. Anyway, I appreciate it very lot.

The “not sure what this is” is an emissions and roadworthiness test. This is more of a reminder to schedule an inspection and emissions test for your state, county, municipality, etc. than it is evidence of a problem. I appreciate the reset details…

E90: A reset issue with the service light

I recently got a service light telling me to replace the brake pads in my back. Set everything up and had them changed. I’m currently attempting to reset the service light. I read a lot about how to reset the light online, but when I tried it, it didn’t work. The enormous triangle shows once I turn on the ignition and hold down the odometer reset button for a short period of time, but it doesn’t take me anywhere after that. Even though I tried holding it for a longer period of time, nothing changed. The triangle simply appears before going away. I searched the area to check if anyone else was experiencing this issue, but I couldn’t discover anything.

While holding down the start/stop button, wait for the service reminder to disappear before applying the clutch or brake. Step 3

Press and hold the odometer reset as soon as the service reminder sounds. Keep pressing the odo button when the warning triangle appears after three seconds. After another two to three seconds, the oil can will emerge. If you keep it down for too long (10 total seconds), the car’s software level, can bus, and other information will be written in German and you will overshoot the runway. Retrace your steps and begin again. Step 4

You are now in the service menu; to navigate between the different service items, use the toggle switch on the indicator stalk. Step 5

To reset an item, make sure it is visible and press the BC button at the end of the indicator stalk. Reset ought should now be visible on the screen. When you press and hold the BC button for 2–3 seconds, a clock will begin to spin, and then it’s finished. Step 6

Now, you have two options: scroll up or down to choose another item (as in step 4), or press the start or stop button to leave.

I followed those directions to the letter. My issue is with step 3. I’ve tried everything, but the oil can never materializes. I hold the button down after the warning triangle for a further two to three seconds, but the oil can is still not visible. I nearly tried every duration to see if anything would work. Even the overshoot with the German writing was reached by me. It seems as though my automobile doesn’t even have such settings. – –

Procedure

Turn on the ignition in step two, but do not start the car. (All of the dash lights should momentarily illuminate.)

Step 3: Press and hold the cluster’s tiny reset button for five seconds to bring up the service information.

Step 4: Using the up and down wheel on the indicator stalk, scroll until the oil life is visible in the gauge cluster.

Step 5: Hold down the BC button on the stalk while waiting for RESET to show up in the cluster.

Step 6: Hold down the BC button while waiting for the gauge cluster to confirm the reset.

Other service interval resets, such as those for brake fluid, brake pads, and chassis service reminders, can be handled using the same process.

Why is my BMW’s service light on?

  • Needs Oil Changes: When it is time for an oil change, your BMW service engine light will on. The goal is to inform you when the time and mileage limits for your current oil have been reached. If you keep using your engine without changing the oil, even the best repair shop won’t be able to fix it.
  • Low Oil or Other Fluid Levels: The service engine light also warns of low transmission fluid, coolant, or oil levels. Due to these low levels, this safety feature works to protect your car’s components.
  • Regular Scheduled Maintenance: The computer in your BMW is preprogrammed with the timings for your regularly scheduled maintenance. The service engine soon light signals that your car needs to be taken in for its scheduled maintenance.

Your BMW will live longer and retain its value if you have routine maintenance done on it. You will eventually harm your car’s engine and other parts if you neglect any regular maintenance.

With the right preventive maintenance, a well-built car like a BMW can last for hundreds of thousands of kilometres. If your service engine light turns on, consider it a chance to save money and ensure you have a dependable car to drive for many years.
