Guys, I’ve got it figured out. My 645ci was having the exact same problem. You only need to start the pairing procedure by going to the Bluetooth screen. Now, make sure you enter the same four-digit pin you entered for your phone into the Bluetooth in your car. Choose either 0000 or 1234. Select “confirm passkey” after entering the passkey. That’ll finish it.

I simply walked in to pair, and it requested my phone’s passcode. The car asked for the passcode after I scrolled to (1) and I entered it, and it then paired.
Simply make up a number; I typically use 0000 or 1234. You don’t ever need to remember it, regardless of what it is. When you pair up, you just make stuff up.

Resetting Your Bluetooth Pairing Code
You might need to reset the Bluetooth pairing code if you are having trouble connecting your Bluetooth device to another device. Each code is unique to each automobile, therefore you must get in touch with your dealer service department to bring the vehicle in and have it reset. As of today, I still can’t do this with the BMW 750 without taking it to the mechanic.
My X3’s glovebox contained a card, but the passcode was inoperable. I went to the dealer, and they showed me that the bluetooth code may be found on a sticker on the navigation system head unit beneath the detachable panel in my cargo area (left side wall where tools are stored). It had nothing in common with the “PK” number on my card.
After having my X3 and a Treo 600 (non-BT) for two and a half years, I LOVE being able to use the handsfree feature on it!
I’m not really sure what you’re asking, though. When you couple the phone and the radio, you don’t create a pin, do you? I connected the iPhone to two Motorola phones, each of which has a unique pair number. Maybe I don’t get it.
This is not the phone, and the security code you typed on the BMW iDrive screen is not you; I was there and realized that I was missing a step after a half-hour. Just choose 4 numbers on the iPhone when prompted for the pin. The BMW iDrive then asked for the passkey, which I entered as 0000. The next step is to pick Confirm Passkey using the iDrive knob, once highlighted, press iDrive Know In to select, and your phone will then be associated.
Other numbers did not function on my X3; instead, I received a message stating that the PIN was incorrect on the iPhone screen. Everything worked OK after I obtained the correct PassKey number from the Bluetooth device in the left cargo area panel.

A passkey was included with the paperwork for your car. That is the passkey that you must enter in order for the phone to function. It’s in the documents if you look through them.
Look for a “black box” with labeling in the LH rear covered compartment if you can’t find the passkey information in your Owner’s Manual packet. The passkey code can be found on one of these labels that starts with “PH.” For future use, I cut off one of the labels and tucked it inside my owner’s manual. Hope this was useful.
The location is correct, although it is designated with a “PK” code. It has two labels that read “Continental” and has the appearance of silver. While programming the phone, be sure your key is in the first position.
You are aware that the trunk is a good place to look for a Bluetooth passkey. Have you ever noticed that the trunk has two compartments on either side that are opened by a small push button? The bluetooth hardware with the passkey is inside the left one when you open it. See if that functions. only on the BMW X3
Regards for the advice! Actually, the key is the PK in the trunk. The PK listed in the user manual is inaccurate, thus obviously they mismatched the paperwork with someone else when I purchased the car as a CPO.

Who would have thought to check the trunk, open the side compartment door, and look for the passcode there? It wasn’t in the owner’s manual, which, I must say, is absolutely useless.
