How To Remove BMW X5 Door Panel?

I need instructions on how to remove the door panel because I want to replace my dented B pillar trim (on the exterior). I looked through the articles and forums but was unable to locate a useful description. In the Articles area, I did locate the images of the trim replacement:

What do I need to know about the airbags? Do they come off with the panel? I need to fix my driver-side door handle.

The panels do not come off with them. The photo I showed above definitely shows the airbag. The black package with the eye-catching yellow sticker is it.

In order to access the lock actuator, you must remove it. Keep in mind that the airbag is an explosive device that has the potential to kill or seriously hurt you. No joking. adopt the necessary safety measures.

Uncle Bob explains it best; I should have consulted him before taking off my door cards. It took me a long time to figure out how to open the door in the last film, which he labeled “B” in his post.

The ‘how to’ link omits this crucial step, which is also, in my opinion, the trickiest to figure out because the rest is so simple.

Can the airbag be turned off without setting off an alarm. It was already removed the other day, and I was looking at the door actuator behind it while it was hanging off to the side. That would be the best course of action if the power cord could be disconnected from it without setting off any alarms, right?

7. Carefully remove the airbag from the door frame by unbolting it. The connector shouldn’t need to be unplugged, but if you must, you should first remove the battery to prevent the airbag light from turning on when you replace everything.

Despite disconnecting the battery out of caution, I changed the door lock actuator without disabling the airbag. if you can, let the car sit for an hour to let any electricity in the circuits dissipate.
