The lug pattern, spacing, and off-set of wheels that are spec’d for the G30 (new 5 series) or G11 (7 series 2016 and newer) should be used. Initializing the TPMS is done through iDrive. If you wish to do this, it seems like you should rely on a competent BMW-savvy shop or reputable BMW Service Center. Saving a little money up front could quickly turn into a nightmare that costs you a lot of money since too many tire jockeys are not qualified or trained to handle this.

I purchased a second set of wheels and some HUF TPMS.

Reading the instructions, it appears that I need a TPMS programming tool to get these to function.

You should only need to reset the TPMS in the iDrive. Once you start driving, they will coincide.

If this doesn’t work for you, you probably purchased the incorrect TPMS sensors for your MY F30. They changed from what the 12–13 F30s have for ’14+

I studied numerous forum discussions and journal articles regarding the TPMS and part numbers.

Can someone perhaps provide a brief technical explanation of how this reset works and how the car determines the location of each sensor?

I watched a video on YouTube of someone changing the sensors on a Chrysler vehicle while carrying a magnet. I would presume that the system checks the tires somehow on its own, but how specifically?

I think each wheel well has a separate tpms receiver, so it only receives data from the sensors.

Simply press the button behind the center vents for 5 seconds if the TPMS is from the same year as your vehicle. The TPMS will be reset in order to recognize the new sensors.

Does this mean that a dealer is needed for programming if the sensor is from a vehicle from a different year?

A dealer never needs to code a TPMS. Simply install the appropriate version for your car. In 2010, BMW upgraded to a new TPMS model. The old version is in every 2008 and 2009 vehicle, whereas the new version is in M3s manufactured after 2010. You are alright if you purchase the correct version. All you have to do is reset them using iDrive or the dash button.

Obtain the Proper Tools

This is the initial step in the programming of Nissan TPMs sensors. Without a TPMS programming and diagnostic tool with updated software, you cannot program the TPMS sensor in your car. The usual manufacturer software upgrades that make the programming work more manageable are available once the tool’s software has been updated.

Hi. I established this discussion because of Search>Me in order to address some worries I have about TPMS sensors. If this has previously been discussed, please point me to the post or assist me if you are aware of this information.

I have tpms in my stock 162s on a 2008 335i e90. I presently have iforged quick wheels on them, and the tpms light on my gauge cluster is driving me crazy. I’m thinking about removing, refinishing, and reassembling the wheels while also installing tpms. I am aware that I require a set of sensors and 90 degree tpms adapters. I enquired as to whether I could use any used tpms from another bmw or only particular ones.

How do I program/make my car recognize a fresh set of TPMs sensors? Do they need to be programmed or can I simply install a new set of TPMs and reset it from my car’s gauge cluster menu (without an i-drive)? If not, Hibdon’s, Discount Tire Direct, or a BMW dealer, who is capable of doing this? Anyone running I-Forged wheels with TPMs and 90-degree adapters? Just considering whether it would be more logical to install new tpms in my iforged wheels rather than using the ones from my OEM wheels.

2. Rotate the signal lever’s BC selector up or down until the TPMS symbol shows in the instrument cluster.

3. Quickly press the BC button on the steering column stalk to confirm the display.

4. To confirm choosing tire pressure monitoring, push the BC button.

5. For approximately 5 seconds, press and hold the BC button on the steering column stalk.

until the instrument cluster’s RDW display turns on. The warning sign for tire failure is

Now it’s time to initialize. The absence of a tick on the display means that the

The BC button should now be released to complete initialization.

Thanks! I’m grateful. When I’m through, I’ll return to the conversation to report on my results.

Resurrecting the dead for anyone looking for this. I can attest that a 2011 335xi can use this. I had to carry out this procedure while driving in order to configure the replacement sensor. All I did was walk up and down my cul-de-sac.

For Your BMW, a Simple TPMS Relearn/Reset Tool

After a tire rotation or tire replacement, the BMW TPMS reset tool makes it simple to reset all tire sensors in just three steps.

To use, simply follow the servicing routine and make sure your BMW is in the TPMS Learn Mode (if you need help with this, ask us after purchasing). Hold the tool on the tire’s sidewall close to the valve stem. Holding the tool against the tire sidewall, press the Prees button.

Overall, this BMW TPMS activation tool is straightforward, quick, and simple to use; with a single button press, it activates each individual TPMS sensor. The tool has a low battery LED light and an LED light to alert when transmitting with the TPMS sensor.

Relearn/Reset of TPMS sensors using a tool:

  • Activate the learning mode on your car (if you need assistance with this we can send procedure instructions).
  • By inserting the BMW TPMS relearn tool against the tire sidewall, close to the valve stem, and pressing the start button, you can read information from the tire pressure sensor.

Does the BMW TPMS require programming?

BMW Originals do not require programming; however, the car does, in accordance with the instructions. However, it should be feasible to program the sensors and the car at a reduced cost by having a tire shop. After programming, the car will detect any of the two sets, summer or winter.

Without a tool, how do you program a TPMS sensor?

This was found on a focus forum. One thing to note is that it won’t function if you are performing a new set when the old set is close to the car. Therefore, if you are programming a second set, you might need to drive to a parking lot or petrol station.

hello to all of you. I discovered a technique for TPMS sensor training. Use this even if you are only rotating your tires or adding winter wheels or tires with sensors already installed. I’m not sure whether this has already been uploaded. I looked online, but I couldn’t find it posted anywhere. There is no need to purchase the TPMS training aid.

1) Ensure that the proper pressure is used to inflate your tires. 40 psi is mine.

2) Put the key in the “on” position. Push the start button if your car has one without depressing the brake pedal.

3) Press the danger light switch six times. The horn should sound, and the LCD display between the tachometer and speedometer should read “Train left front tire.”

4) Deflate the left-front tire’s air pressure until you hear the horn honk. “Train right front tire” should now appear on the LCD screen.

5) Let the right front tire’s air out until you hear the horn sound.

Do TPMS sensors require programmability?

Without the necessary information, components, and equipment, maintaining TPMS-equipped automobiles financially can be difficult. There are still many misconceptions concerning TPMS despite all the training programs and technical papers on the topic, and the most common one is the mix-up between vehicle retraining and sensor programming.

The problem is caused by the accessibility of aftermarket TPMS sensor modules that are “programmable,” “universal,” or “cloneable.” Before being inserted in the tire, these sensors need to be programmed with the appropriate protocol/application information for the vehicle, and they then need to be retrained to the vehicle. Unfortunately, several shops skip the crucial relearn stage because they think the sensor programming took care of everything. This misunderstanding may result in complaints from customers and service retries.

How much does a BMW TPMS sensor replacement cost?

Tire pressure sensor replacement for a BMW 328i typically costs $210, which includes $115 for supplies and $95 for labor. Prices may change based on where you are.

Can I set up my own TPMS sensors?

Tire pressure sensors with caps are simple to install. You won’t have any trouble working on your car even if you have no prior knowledge. The sensors are often simply screwed into place in place of the valve stem caps.

Why don’t my brand-new TPMS sensors function?

You might need to upgrade your TPMS tool if you can’t read the sensor. Make sure to execute a TPMS update because it will include the most recent vehicle and TPMS sensor coverage. Look for the most recent software update for your tool under the SETTINGS menu, and compare it to the most recent update notes posted online.
