How is a 49L top case without a lock opened?
I bought a pre-owned BMW top case from 2004 to 2006. Although it was touted as not having a key, the cylinder is missing, therefore there is no lock. I can open the clasp on the baggage rack, but I can’t get the case to open by itself. Although the part of the lock mechanism that opens the top latch can be pushed in, it behaves as though it is locked and won’t release the top latch. I am unable to see what needs to be moved to make it unlocked. Any advice on how to go in order to begin the case would be greatly appreciated. I already purchased a new lock cylinder, but I might be missing further components or might need to replace any broken ones.
