How To Open BMW Roof With Key?

I’ve been informed that with the key fob, I can close or open my convertible top. I’ve discovered that I can only do it while I’m standing next to the car. What I want to know.

Hi, In my previous cars, I could close and open the windows with my key fob. In the E93, I can open the roof and windows with keeping the unlock button on the fob pressed, but when I want to close the windows and keep the lock button pressed, nothing happens. Is this normal or do I need to go to BMW and have it programmed? I did a search to see if this had been covered, but I found nothing. Anyone has information on this? thanks

I was informed that it couldn’t be accomplished. I have a US-spec version, and the sunroof and windows can be opened but not shut with the key fob. I think it has to do with the fact that they don’t want to get sued if some moron closes the sunroof or window with the key fob when their kid or dog is inside.

YMB, Black Full Merino, Carbon Fiber Trim, DCT, Everything, 2016 F80 /M3 Because I want to be more involved in my un-involvement, I choose DCT.

Or invest in a smartTOP module, which adds a ton of further functionality like one-touch window closing, one-touch opening and closing of the roof (using both the roof button and the FOB), and more. All operations can be programmed.

BMW disabled the “shut the roof with the keyfob” feature because the mechanism lacks sensors to prevent fingers from being guillotined. With a roof-closing module like SmartTop, you can get around it, but WARNING: BE CAREFUL when using it.

Not quite true; BMW DOES offer remote access for closing the roof, but only if comfort access is specified.

For the past two and a half years, the SmartTop has been installed on my E93 without any issues. Full auto roof open/close even folds the wing mirrors when necessary by a double press of the lock button on the fob.

Can a convertible roof be opened while driving?

Never make a roof adjustment while driving When the car is moving, you can lower or raise the roof on some new convertible models. Don’t do this. Instead of taking your hands off the wheel and your eyes off the road while driving to adjust the roof, wait until you can safely pull over.

What does the button on a BMW key’s rear accomplish?

Simply pressing the unlock button on the key fob’s top will unlock your BMW. Within the settings menu of the automobile, you may select whether to unlock all the doors or simply the driver’s door. The alarm system will also be engaged and all the doors, the boot, and the fuel cap will lock when you press the BMW roundel in the key fob’s center. When the lock button is pressed and held down, some models will also fold in the wing mirrors, close the sunroof, and any open windows. Press the boot lid button on the key fob’s bottom to open the boot lid while standing outside the vehicle. For BMWs with automated tailgates, holding it down will unlock the lock and open the boot. There is no need to be concerned if, in the odd case, neither supplied key fob is functional. The integrated key can unlock and lock both the glove box and the vehicle.

What does the BMW key’s diamond button do?

Does anyone have any knowledge of what the key fob’s diamond button is meant to do?

The included manual is incredibly succinct. It refers to a “Headlight courtesy delay feature,” although it’s not entirely clear what this feature performs. “If the standby state is switched on and the high-beam headlights are enabled, the low-beam headlights remain on for an of time,” the text states. Even if “… for a period of time” is meant to be “… for a length of time,” that still doesn’t adequately describe what this feature is.

According to the description, it can only be used when the automobile has just been turned off and the high beams are on. However, when the car is locked, the button appears to have some effect. The inside lights occasionally come on. The headlights occasionally come on. It is quite unpredictable and challenging to duplicate.

What experiences do others have? Has anyone figured out what this button’s actual purpose is?

It is unfortunate that it cannot be set to perform things like open the windows or sunroof, switch on the heating, or other things!

Mine has two options (330e in Belgium): turn on the lights in the house or turn on the air conditioning. In the options for the car, I can select the default function.

It briefly illuminates the headlights in my automobile. Excellent for illuminating the path to your front entrance or finding your car at night in a big parking lot.

Check the “Home lights” setting under “Exterior Light Settings” on your iDrive to make sure it is not set to 0 seconds.

My headlights now turn on for 10 seconds when I hold the diamond button on the key because I set mine to that duration.

Describe BMW F33.

The compact executive automobiles BMW F32 (coupe version), BMW F33 (convertible version), and BMW F36 (five-door liftback variant, marketed as “Gran Coupe”) make up the first generation of the BMW 4 Series. From 2014 until 2020, the F32/F33/F36, which is frequently referred to as the F32, were produced.

The E92/E93 coupe/convertible versions of the fifth-generation 3 Series lineup were replaced by the F32. The F32 is produced alongside the F30 3 Series and has several features in common with it. The F32/F33/F36 are powered by turbocharged petrol and diesel engines with 3 cylinders (petrol only), 4 cylinders, and 6 cylinders, just like the F30 3 Series line.

Early in 2014, the F82/F83 M4 versions with strong performance were released. They are propelled by an S55 straight-six turbocharged engine.

Does BMW produce convertibles with soft tops?

Some saw the removal of the retractable hard-top option from the 2021 BMW 4-Series Convertible to be a significant loss for the vehicle. In actuality, the soft top’s reintroduction is a significant aesthetic triumph for this perennially popular BMW model. In addition to being attractive on the outside, this model has some beautiful exterior finishing options that, at under $60,000, make it a terrific alternative. Drivers also enjoy an excellent on-road experience. To determine the genuine merits and disadvantages of the 2021 4-Series Convertible, we drove it.

The 2.0L four-cylinder engine in the base model produces 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, which is a good start for the series. If you choose the M440i model, which has higher power, you’ll get a 3.0L six-cylinder engine with 382-hp and 396 lb-ft of torque. Both engine options come with RWD and AWD, however the latter costs an extra $2,000 each.

The powertrain’s mechanics are outstanding, with twin-scroll turbochargers and high-precision fuel injection systems providing benefits to both engines. Additionally, this second-generation 4-Series Convertible has Double-VANOS variable camshaft timing, which may help to reduce emissions even more.

The 4-Series Convertible of this generation is broader and longer than the preceding model. It is more precisely an additional 5.2 inches long, 0.1 inches tall, and an inch wide. The broader build gives the vehicle a more aggressive appearance, particularly when combined with the larger version of the distinctive kidney grille that the most recent BMW vehicles began to have in 2020. The vehicle’s new dimensions are highlighted by its strong lines and striking intake design, although not everyone likes the front fascia and new grille, which have generated some controversy.

Why won’t my convertible top open?

If you get into your car one day and press the convertible switch in the console but the roof doesn’t go down, don’t be shocked. It has numerous causes and is a widespread issue. Of course, you could always try flicking the switch a couple of times to see if it helps. If you’re fortunate enough, it might just solve the issue, albeit frequently just momentarily. However, if the problem hasn’t gone away after a few tests of the swap, a bigger problem probably exists.

Remember that understanding how convertible tops function is the key to identifying the issue. The good news is that the logic underlying the functionality of all hydraulic convertible top systems is the same. The precise make and model of your car is much less important once you understand it.

Most convertible tops operate in a same manner. Let’s examine the convertible rooftop issues that come up the most often before going over the system in more depth.

  • If a convertible top simply won’t go up or down when the switch is activated, a blown fuse, lift cylinder, or relay could be to blame.
  • The most common reasons for a convertible top to become stuck during operation are a lift cylinder or a broken cable.
  • Another frequent issue is an extremely slow-moving convertible top, which is often brought on by a faulty lift cylinder.
  • Check the electric motor that controls the soft-top or hard-top roof if the previously identified problems don’t appear to be the cause.
  • Ironically, there are situations when a faulty switch is the only problem.
