First, buy a flat screwdriver with a long stem. I would say small, but not larger than medium.
Then, through the grills, find the bottom of the bonnet latch. It will be to the left of the front left high beam headlight and to the right of the nose grills.
A rectangular hole for the bonnet latch may be seen through one of the grills, more especially the second grill from the top.
You can locate this aperture with your screwdriver. Holding the flat head horizontally, carefully push it in until there is no more room.
Then, quickly and forcefully shove it in. To put it simply, jab it hard. The hat will blow off.
If you don’t punch it in or just use steadily increasing force, it won’t work.

Anyone should give this a try right away, even if they are not in difficulties. This won’t harm the mechanism in any way. However, you must be cautious not to damage the grills downward.
After my technician saved me when something went wrong with the latch, I purchased a properly sized screwdriver and stored it in my trunk permanently.

To accomplish this, you must either shatter the grill or remove the broken grill, as on this car.
Be aware that the plastic air ducting shroud that goes between the grills and the radiator support is missing from this vehicle. Sections of the shroud covered the latches’ undersides. You can feel the plastic strips covering the area where the end of the hood pin is located right below the latches if you stretch your hand inside. To remove this piece from the way, pry it out using a tiny screwdriver. Do not be concerned if you break it off.
Once you have access, a 4mm Allen wrench can be used to loosen the hood pin. The pin lock nut means that the pin will probably be only somewhat tight. Make sure the female hex on the pin’s end is properly seated in the Allen wrench. You might need to use an Allen bit in a ratchet or a box-end wrench on the end of the Allen tool, like we did. The main cable is broken, thus we are removing the hood pin on the driver’s side. To unlock the passenger side latch, we simply pulled on the transfer cable in the middle (in between the left and right latches). However, any latch or both can be accomplished using this technique.
