Even the mine is open, extended, and prepared to welcome the top, it thinks it has collapsed. so that my top won’t open.

You move up to the windshield region and use the Allen wrench there after getting it out from behind the back seat. Remove the plastic hole cover by prying from the front and the rear; the front will make it come out easily, the back may damage it. To detach the top from the windshield, insert the allen wrench into the lock and swivel it as shown. The key is to continue turning the wrench once the top and windshield have separated. Hold your turn! also spinning three times. Don’t overdo it; only turn until it becomes really difficult to turn, then stop. You can’t open the top without completing this step.
The top can then be folded up as you would anticipate. When you depress the button and turn the wrench halfway, the rear top cover’s flap unlocks but only after it has been locked.
So why do you need to lower the top if your issue is the micro switch for the rear baggage shelf? Why not resolve the micro switch issue and allow the car to lower the top as it should?
