It’s simple to become confused because seat controls vary from automobile to car. Fortunately, it’s not too difficult to fold down your chairs. You must first discover the type of controls you have in your new BMW 5 Series before you can fold the back seats down.
- Simply pull on the strap if there is one and push the seatbacks down and forward. The straps could be on top, close to the headrest, or between your seats.

The BMW e90 has Isofix, right?
I’ve done a ton of research online, including searches on this and other forums, but I’m still unsure if the rear ISOFIX anchors on my 2006 320D SE are installed. In essence, I’d like to know their location and ideal appearance. At the back of the boot, I can see two brackets—one on each side. These are either the ISOFIX anchors or some other type of boot attachment. Or must I remove the back seat to access the anchors?
According to one thread, they have been installed as standard in the back of all BMW vehicles since 2002, however I have no idea if this is the case. Additionally, I looked for installation instructions, close-up pictures, etc. without success. I suppose a visit to my dealer would fix the issue, but I figured this information would be simple to discover online.
I would highly appreciate it if someone could describe where and how the ISOFIX anchors are supposed to look.
The isofix clamps but not the plastic guides are present on certain (many? e90s). This is how my 2006 E90 is, so they are not noticeable. In order to access the metal brackets, you must raise the back cushion about an inch above the bottom of the seat. They appear on both sides of the back and resemble enormous staples.
Plastic guidelines are included with certain baby car seats to help keep the cushion out of the way.
jinjur – I appreciate the info. The plastic flaps have undoubtedly been seen in MINIs, but not in an E90.
Bobbba, thanks for sharing this. The first time I looked, I should have used a torch; had I done so, I would have noticed the “huge staples.” Thank you so much for the brilliant solution! For anyone else looking for them, see the attached picture.
We’ve been looking at RCUK, who also happen to be Which Magazine’s top pick for the specific set/ISOFIX combination we’ve been looking for.
We also have the easifix base and the maxi-cosi cabriofix baby seat. really effective Just be careful when shopping online because it’s easy to confuse an easybase (seatbelts) with an easyfix base (isofix).
You can also purchase them on Ebay, but you should certainly inspect them carefully for any flaws.

How large is a BMW 3 Series’ boot?
While the 3 Series is larger than it was in the previous generation, the same cannot be said for its boot, which remains at 480 liters. The majority of consumers should find it more than sufficient without finding it to be the best. The Audi A4 and C-Class both have identically large trunks, but the C-Class’s 455-liter capacity is a little less than that of its rivals.
The 40:20:40 split folding rear seats that come with the 3 Series as standard increase its functionality. It also comes with increased storage space and some useful netting in the boot area.
The BMW 3 Series has a lot of room.
There are five seats in the BMW 3 Series. There is good outward visibility and first-row comfort and support. Even for taller persons, there is plenty of room in the back seat.
