I’ve looked everywhere on iDrive, but I can’t figure out how to delete destinations from Navigation. I discovered a way to delete all personal information, but I do not want to. I want to say thank you.
Many thanks, SteveinAZ. The option button escaped my memory. When I bought the automobile, I was not given a navigation handbook since I was told they were not available.
Just so you know, I used the app to send certain addresses from my iPhone to the car, and everything went smoothly until the next day, when the address kept appearing each time I turned the key in the ignition. I entered the navigation program and erased the address as Steve said. Every time it appeared for about five days, I did this. I believe that the app occasionally keeps sending the data back to the vehicle. incredibly frustrating I have no idea why or how it ultimately stopped. Any opinions on that?
Thank you for the manual copy. Compared to my dealer, you have been more helpful. The sales document appears to be finished after the signature is placed on it. Perhaps this explains why my dealer was not a particularly good BMW dealer in 2018.
Getting rid of locations?
I have a few pointless locations saved in my navigator. I can see them, but I have no idea how to get rid of them. For instance, the map depicts my home address, 9011 Randall Rd, Huntsville, AL, to be two homes away. When using a GPS reading in the driveway, the precise destination is 9035 Randall, and when driving home, the address arrival is announced as expected.
While receiving a rapid charge, I looked through the built-in documentation but could only discover the instructions for adding a destination. No information was provided regarding how to remove them from the navigation list.
The “Option” button is located at the bottom right of the rotary dial. A YouTube video demonstrates how to utilize it. Choose the destination, press “Option,” choose “delete,” and then press the rotary dial to confirm the deletion. It is ineffective to press “Option” while over “Delete.”
Every time I turn off my car, a warning with some arbitrary “Suggested Destination” appears. I’m unable to remove the notice, and I also don’t know how to completely disable it. Anyone who is capable of doing this?
You might need to poke about in your navigation menu settings depending on the version of iDrive you’re using. Don’t forget to adjust the Privacy menu, just like I did for iDrive 7.
Regards, Fresh. I exclusively use the BMW nav even though I have iDrive 7. I’ll give unchecking that box a shot to see if it fixes the issue.
Yes, I agree. The past month or two, it has only recently begun to do that. When they changed the software for the brake-related software recall, I wonder whether that turned into a new “feature.”
Perhaps I’m being a little dense, but I don’t see a way to reset the I drive. Before it leaves on Tuesday, I want to delete the entire phone book, sat nav memory, etc.
There is undoubtedly a choice to remove all destinations from the Sat Nav. It’s probably under Destinations and Options, although that seems to be stating the obvious.
Yes, I was being a little dense. The presets may be deleted by just holding down the button for a short period of time in the options. I was trying to find a form of factory reset, but I don’t believe this feature is available.
Your phone’s hard drive is merely a link to your phone, and once it’s taken out of the car, there’s no way to access anything, in my opinion.
The only thing that will remain is the name of your phone in the list of associated devices; although I haven’t tested it, I’m sure it will be simple to remove it from the iDrive.
After you’ve done that and destroyed all of your addresses, I believe it will be almost as good as a factory reset.
The same was true of the majority of cars, most notably Audi and Jaguar, when I was considering purchasing a new vehicle last year.
Not the case. Four weeks ago, I picked up an approved used. had the navigation and phone address book still filled with the former owner’s name, address, and phone. Stupid original owner but dishonest dealer
On my BMW, how can I erase contacts?
Folks I need to remove data (phone contacts, music, destinations, etc.) from the I drive after trading in the F30. Even after trying everything, I still can’t manage to get rid of phone contacts. We would appreciate any assistance. No Bluetooth in the car…
Contacts don’t appear when I switch off Bluetooth on my phone since I don’t import contacts to my idrive. Usually, if I need to fast clean the memory, I’ll just erase recently visited places and messages. Since you’re selling the car, you should in your situation take the actions suggested by the other poster to thoroughly clean the I drive.
I was “hovering” over profiles in settings without selecting them; perhaps that will also be helpful. It may just apply to the “Profiles” selection because options vary based on whatever selection you are on.
Just wasted 45 minutes looking for a way to erase all contacts. I tried various profiles while using both of the car’s keys, but nothing worked. Honestly BMW? So difficult to remove contacts? To get the dealer to complete it, I might have to return.
Like with messages and last destinations, there should often be a mechanism to delete all contacts if you select the option button while viewing the contacts. Either one entry or all of them can be deleted.
When I press options while on the contacts screen as per your advice, the original options screen appears. It’s bad that it’s more complicated than that. really frustrating
I’m not sure what to tell you, but that stinks. I really posted earlier about “remove all users” while looking at it in my car; nevertheless, I also recently received a software upgrade. Perhaps it is a feature of more recent models, as the 14’s lacked it.
