I’m attempting to pair my phone with the bluetooth feature on my 2006 750 Li. The previous owner set the password, and I’ve been unable to change it. Is a computer reset necessary for me to connect my phone, or is there any method to get past the password the previous owner set? Do I have to take it to the dealer if a reset is required, or can I do it myself?

A one-time-only initial pairing process is needed for your Bluetooth(r) wireless technology capable phone in order to utilize it in your car. Start the Bluetooth(r) search mode in your car to pair your phone. Start either the discoverable mode or the search mode next, depending on your phone. * A Bluetooth passkey is needed to finish the pairing process after the car locates the phone.
You can select any set of 4 to 16 digits. When requested, enter the passkey on your phone or in your car. The other device will then request confirmation.
You need the vehicle’s owner’s manual to determine if the 335i Coup actually dates from 2006 or earlier. As stated in the vehicle’s owner’s manual, “Vehicles require a fixed Bluetooth passkey for verification.”
When you give the dealer your vehicle’s VIN code, they will, of course, charge you for the handbook.
