Is it? Back in 2015, I was able to open and close windows with the fop and drop and close the top with the keyfob when test-driving a brand-new F33.
When I put the SmartTop module to my 2018 F33, it accomplished the same thing and was much better.
I awoke in the morning shortly after we received our F48 and saw all the windows were open. The key must have been in my pocket when I must have touched a button. Soon after, I left it at an airport and used the app to verify that everything was secured and secure, which it was. Several things happened at once that caused me to wonder “what if I had checked it and found the airport parking people had left the windows open—could I have closed them?” No way was BMW’s response. That didn’t impress me.
Thank you; the key automatically performs remote closing from a close distance. But not if you’ve left the key at a parking garage at the airport, you’re on the other side of the globe, and you can see from the app that the windows have somehow been unintentionally left open. From a distance of thousands of miles, you can use the BMW app to see that the windows are open but not actually close them. I’m happy to be proven wrong if Bimmercode has a solution for that, but as far as I know, it doesn’t.
The solution I came up with was to purchase a BMW key fob into which the key slides; this prevents unintentional button pressing, but it creates an unsightly and bulky lump in my pocket. The device also boasts of preventing unintentional key button pressing!
You’re right. For that, Bimmercode does not have an answer. I’m unsure of any alternatives to your solution. Maybe they’ll incorporate it into the BMW app at some point.

Window opening and closing
It’s advisable to ventilate your car before you get in if you don’t want to melt in the summertime furnace. However, how can you do it without going inside your BMW? Quite simply, using one of your secret key fob techniques.
To make your windows open, simply press and hold the unlock button for a short period of time. The windows will close as soon as you let go of the button. Do you also want to open the sunroof? The door will fully open if you continue to hold down the unlock button.
You must now press and hold the lock button on your key fob for a few seconds for the windows to fully close if you want them to open again. Unfortunately, you will have to temper your enthusiasm because where you live greatly affects the window closing feature. It is typically enabled in European nations, allowing you to use it without restriction.
However, due to local laws, if you drive a car designed for the North American market, you probably won’t have that option added to your key fob. You’ll need to program your car to make it operate. You can achieve that using BimmerTech’s remote cable coding as one method. Purchase the Remote Window Control option, schedule a quick and painless coding session with a BimmerTech expert, and take pleasure in aerating your vehicle before you even get in.

You won’t be able to use keyless entry or remote unlocking if your BMW has Comfort Access if the battery in your key fob has died. You can still enter and manually start your automobile, though.

This can be used in place of a standard key to unlock your car. You can locate a little hole on the bottom of the handle if the keyhole is hidden on your car door. Use the key blade to pry off the trim panel and expose the keyhole by inserting it into the hole.
Once you’re inside, put your remote key fob in the ignition slot or, if your car doesn’t have one, press it up against the steering column’s key markings. If your key fob dies, you will still be able to start your BMW using the start/stop button on the dashboard.

What does the BMW key’s diamond button do?
Does anyone have any knowledge of what the key fob’s diamond button is meant to do?
The included manual is incredibly succinct. It refers to a “Headlight courtesy delay feature,” although it’s not entirely clear what this feature performs. “If the standby state is switched on and the high-beam headlights are enabled, the low-beam headlights remain on for an of time,” the text states. Even if “… for a period of time” is meant to be “… for a length of time,” that still doesn’t adequately describe what this feature is.
According to the description, it can only be used when the automobile has just been turned off and the high beams are on. However, when the car is locked, the button appears to have some effect. The inside lights occasionally come on. The headlights occasionally come on. It is quite unpredictable and challenging to duplicate.
What experiences do others have? Has anyone figured out what this button’s actual purpose is?
It is unfortunate that it cannot be set to perform things like open the windows or sunroof, switch on the heating, or other things!
Mine has two options (330e in Belgium): turn on the lights in the house or turn on the air conditioning. In the options for the car, I can select the default function.
It briefly illuminates the headlights in my automobile. Excellent for illuminating the path to your front entrance or finding your car at night in a big parking lot.
Check the “Home lights” setting under “Exterior Light Settings” on your iDrive to make sure it is not set to 0 seconds.
My headlights now turn on for 10 seconds when I hold the diamond button on the key because I set mine to that duration (G20 330i).
