Hello, men. When the 2 Series debuted in 2014, I was determined to have the fine line wood trim as an option, and now my new 2 Series has it.

On the dash, there is a lot of surface area, which means that many scratches and swirls may be visible immediately away. My automobile is brand new, and it now has 600 miles on it. It is not quite two weeks old. However, it arrived to me with dings and sticky residue on the black plastic glove box region. Goo Gone Gel Spray was used to quickly remove the sticky residue.

The scuffs gave the impression that something had been dragged across the wood trim. Fortunately, I used Griot’s plastic polish last week to remove the majority of the damage. The scratching practically came out and wasn’t too deep. Still, there were some stray swirls and very tiny traces of it.

Since then, I have done some research and am happy to discover that the wood trims have a clear coat. On the clear, you can just apply a standard auto polish and then wax it.

Tonight, after seeing another scratch from an EZ PASS device I was carrying and subsequent interior bobbling, I completed a second round of detailing on the wood trim. Even though it was getting dark, I continued to use a more intricate wood trim detail. I applied and buff with a microfiber towel/applicator combo and used suitable micro diaper scratch-free cloths for light buffing.

In the car, I also had NuFinish Scratch Dr., but I didn’t need to use it because the #17 did the trick.

Most likely, I’ll use Meguairs Mirror Glaze #7. Show car glaze Polish and Car Groom #24 Yellow Carnauba Liquid Wax — Both of these products have no cleaning properties and are completely free of abrasives. Perfect materials for use.

I’ll publish some images of all I’ve done with this wood trim detailing and upkeep when I finish working on my car’s new car preparation.

I’m glad the scratches healed up. I would advise switching from microfiber towels to towels made of the Rag Company Platinum Pluffle weave. The pluffle towels made some rather pricey microfibers that I purchased from Detailer’s Domain feel like sandpaper. On my instrument cluster and high gloss black trim, I will only use it.

For maybe more extensive inside cleaning, I also intend to get some Swissvax interior microfiber towels.

fake wood trim from BMW How can I polish?

The center console and dash trim on my 2006 325i look like wood. I’m not sure if it’s metal or plastic. However, it has numerous scratches and swirl-like patterns all over it.

I would use a plastic polish if you were talking about the same thing I have on my BMW. There are several plastic polishes made by 3m, as well as some multipurpose polishes that might be used and, I believe, some by Menzerna. My has what resembles a clear coat. appears fairly thick. It’s really difficult to polish it with a buffer, and you run the risk of staining trim if you don’t tape well. I tried polishing mine with Menzerna IP by hand, but it was taking too long. I then decided to hit it with my DA. I made a big difference, but there were still swirls that did not get removed. The only really practical method to do this, in my opinion, is by hand. You’ll need some very aggressive materials; IP wasn’t aggressive enough. The plastic covering on my car has a hardness similar to clear coat, but it’s more difficult to remove with polish.

On wood interior trim, I like to use an AIO or cleaning wax-type solution. By doing so, you simultaneously protect and polish. I’ve had terrific success using Meguiar’s #6 and Optimum Poli-Seal in the past.

Justin is DP MaxWax, you prefer Nattys, and I like Souveran. And guess what? Everything is OK!

Although souveran or any other wax may make it shine, the scratches and other imperfections require attention. Also, what material is that trim made of? I’m sure it’s not wood, but I’m not sure if it’s made entirely of plastic or a coated metal.
