Regardless of the spray cleaner you choose to use, I always spray the cleaning cloth (microfiber, cotton, etc.) but NOT the surface that has to be cleaned. You don’t want any overspray to end up on any delicate devices. I understand that it’s unlikely that anything behind the display will be harmed by overspray, but if you regularly use this “method,” it’s more likely that you’ll develop a positive habit rather than a negative one.

In terms of stains and greasy markings, mine is filthy. I’ve tried microfiber clothing, screen wipes, and other things, but when the sun is shining it still looks smeary, and that irritates me!

The idea is that since most liquids leave a smear, the best course of action is to use a plastic-safe cleaner to remove debris, let it dry, and then use a lens cleaning cloth to polish the dried screen to thoroughly eliminate streaks. This is what creepy coupe suggests.

That was my usage. NEVER EVER let it appear on the iDrive screen. Mine was absolutely bugged. As soon as I pointed out that their cleaner was to blame for it becoming completely unusable, my wonderful local BMW shop replaced it under warranty. By the way, I didn’t intend to use it to wipe the screen; I simply oversprayed.

Why does cleaning the screen need to be so difficult, as I previously stated? With the same handkerchief he used to wipe the snot from his children’s faces, my brother cleaned the screen in his Acura. After that, everything looked fantastic! LOL

Dust and fingerprints can be removed from the screen by softly wiping it off with a clean mf towel dampened with a light mist of 1Z einszett Cockpit.

I know you are the detailing expert, Phil, but have you or someone you know well used it on the more recent BMW navigation screens? Do you have a particular MF towel that you would suggest using for the task?

I just picked up my car from the shop, and the entire screen has a line that I’m positive wasn’t there before they cleaned my car.

When Navigation is turned on, I can hardly see it, but my brain recognizes it.

I thought your nav system had just been replaced. It’s possible that the replacement screen has a defect or that they scratched it during installation. If it were me, I would draw attention to it and ask them to fix it.

Ever since I scratched the navigation screen on my 550, I first use a can of compressed air to remove all the dust. Just as simple to scratch is the instrument cluster. Every time, I feel like I’m defusing a bomb, so I’m very cautious.
