I possess 3 keys. the two initial full access diamond remote keys and one extra full access diamond remote key that were purchased from the dealer around a year ago. Years ago, during a transfer, I *think* the Valet Key and possibly a plastic key were lost.
Almost seldom was more than one key utilized. The “spare” key was stored with other extra keys in case of emergencies, but it was probably never actually used. Therefore, the spare key was also useless when the remote in the “daily” key stopped working. However, both keys functioned well when used manually to open locks and start the automobile.
Basically, I assumed that the remote batteries in both of the original keys had run out, so I just ordered a new one.
Any of the keys can be manually inserted into the driver’s door and will lock or unlock the fuel door appropriately.
Since a key’s “shelf life” when not charged is said to be around 18 months, I’m speculating that perhaps my wife’s automobile is just not charging keys.
